Chapter 14 - CHAPTER 14.AWFUL PRESENTIMENT

The morning sunlight filtered through the white curtains, casting a gentle glow in the room. As soon as Jael Sweeny opened his eyes, he felt a throbbing pain in his temple, a reminder of his drunkenness from the previous night. Sitting up in bed, he looked down at his casual clothes and realized that he had changed out of his suit from the night before.

Walking over to the window, Jael Sweeny saw Cate trimming flowers in the garden below, unaware of his presence. Her long hair cascaded down her back as she carefully snipped away, just as he had seen her do five years ago when they lived here together. But now, he couldn't smile at her and tease her about her gardening skills.

Cate suddenly felt a presence and turned around, but saw no one. Shrugging it off, she headed back inside to check on the rice porridge she had been cooking. As she entered the living room, she saw Jael Sweeny coming down the stairs.

"Good morning, are you awake?" she asked, trying to sound casual.

"Yes," he replied, his expression distant and cold, causing Cate to feel a pang of unease.

"Okay, well let's get breakfast ready," she said, trying to lighten the mood as she headed into the kitchen.

The rice porridge was fragrant and delicious, with a side of small dishes that were perfect for someone with a hangover. Cate carefully tasted a spoonful and savored the soft and fragrant flavor.

The food was served, and Jael sweeny's expression was complicated.

"You drank yesterday, so this is perfect for you." She smiled.

Is that so?

Jael Sweeny sneered inwardly. She still cares about him drinking yesterday? It's been five years, and her fake concern hasn't changed.

Jael Sweeny remained silent and began to eat his porridge.

Yesterday, he had dinner with the boss of Enbridge Group, Mr. Richie. After the meal, Mr. Richie invited them to another venue, speaking sincerely as if it would be impolite not to go. So they went to a entertainment club.

Drinking is one thing, but getting drunk is another. Jael Sweeny has always been a self-disciplined person, but he was caught off guard.

Mr. Richie likes to indulge in nightlife, and there were many girls and princesses around. Jael Sweeny glanced coldly and suddenly froze.

Someone's eyes and eyebrows looked a lot like Cate, especially the slightly raised corner of the eye, innocent and seductive.

Mr. Richie noticed that Jael Sweeny was not right and quickly gave the girl a signal. The girl understood and sat next to Jael sweeny, greeting him with a glass of wine, but her body and hands were not honest.

Jael Sweeny just watched her, his dark eyes overflowing with coldness, and his body also exuded a compelling aura.

The young girl had never seen such a scene before, and her body trembled. When she wanted to approach him, Jael Sweeny used a cold and icy tone to tell her to leave.

The girl was scared away, and no one approached him again. Jael Sweeny couldn't calm down, drinking cup after cup alone. The strong liquor entered his mouth, and the bitterness in his heart surged again and again. He didn't know how many cups he had drunk. When he woke up again, he saw Cate's fawning face.

At this moment, looking at Cate in front of him, Jael Sweeny felt the emotions from last night resurfacing.

"What's wrong?" Cate realized that he was not in the right mood.

"It's nothing,"Jael Sweeny suddenly put down his bowl and stood up. "There's something I need to take care of at work, I have to go."

Cate was stunned, watching his tall figure leave, suddenly feeling a sense of frustration.

"Stop!" Her voice was not low.

Jael Sweeny paused his steps and turned around, looking at her coldly. "What is it?"

Cate smiled lightly, but the smile didn't reach her eyes. "Mr. Jael, did you have fun last night?"

Jael Sweeny narrowed his eyes slightly, waiting for her next words.

"Mr. Jael came back drunk last night, and I took care of you all night with my clothes untied. Today, I even made porridge for you. Am I the nanny you hired with your money?"

Jael Sweeny didn't expect her to have such a temper, or rather, it seemed more like jealousy.

"You..." Jael Sweeny hadn't had a chance to speak yet when his phone rang.

"Jael, there's a problem with the case in City A. Our information has been leaked and Manager Seb's side is in chaos!" Mike Crowley's voice was urgent, this matter was quite tricky.

"What?" Jael Sweeny frowned, his thoughts interrupted. He turned to look at Cate, but eventually turned his attention back to the phone. "Tell me what happened and have my secretary book a flight to City A immediately!"

As he spoke, he took his coat from the foyer.

Cate watched as Jael sweeny's figure slowly walked away, and with a bang, the sound of the door closing was like a blow to her heart.

Cate laughed at herself and sat down weakly in her chair.

On the other side. The black Bentley sped away, and inside the car, Mike Crowley glanced at Jael Sweeny, who was lost in thought, while looking at the report.

"Mr. Sweeny?"

Jael Sweeny's expression flickered. "What did you say?"

Mike Crowley was a little surprised. Jael Sweeny rarely acted like this, especially in such a difficult situation at work."Ahem!" He coughed lightly twice, put away his thoughts, and continued to look at the data. "The person who leaked the information has been identified. It was someone from the technical department who left the country overnight and has now been arrested and detained. However, the client is a bit difficult to deal with and is threatening to withdraw their investment."

Jael Sweeny couldn't help but frown. "Withdraw their investment?"

Mike Crowley nodded.

"Let them withdraw!" His eyes flashed with a cold light, and he turned to look outside the car. "Ask the PR department to prepare a statement saying that the first party unilaterally breached the contract, and use my personal account to make up for the funds."

Mike Crowley was stunned for a moment, and almost immediately understood Jael Sweeny's intentions.

The scenery outside the car quickly passed by, and Jael sweeny couldn't help but think of Cate again.

Doubt appeared in his pitch-black eyes, a rare expression for him.

After a while, Jael Sweeny turned his head.

"Mike Crowley, find a nanny to go to the villa in Montreal!" His voice was low and elegant, like a cello....

Ding dong.

Cate was browsing Weibo. She had never used it before since she was abroad, but she had just downloaded it and found that it was a good app for gossip.

"Who is it?" She put down her phone and walked to the door.

"Miss Cate, I am the nanny hired by Mr. Jael."

Outside the door was a woman in her forties, dressed plainly, and looked like an honest person.

Cate was puzzled. Why did Jael Sweeny hire a nanny?

Although she didn't understand, she still opened the door and said, "Come in!"

The woman seemed a little nervous when she saw Cate, but she awkwardly smiled and grabbed the corner of her shirt, "Miss Cate, my surname is Whitney, you can call me Aunt Whitney. Just tell me if you need anything!"

"Okay! Aunt Whitney, you can familiarize yourself with the environment first. I'll go upstairs and change my clothes!" Cate politely smiled and led her in before turning and going upstairs.

Standing by the bedroom window, Cate dialed Jael sweeny's phone.

She was a bit puzzled. What did it mean for Jael Sweeny to hire a nanny without saying hello? Could it be to monitor her? It had to be said that this was a possibility!

"Hello," Jael answered the phone as soon as he got off the plane.

"You hired a nanny?" Cate asked.

"Correct," sweeny replied, his words as concise as ever, leaving Cate stunned.

Previously, Jael Sweeny would always discuss everything with her, but now he was cold and domineering, which gave Cate a bad feeling and made her feel like she was just a pet he was raising.

"Okay, it's your own house, you can do whatever you want. I'm just curious, why did you suddenly hire a nanny?" She casually asked, as if she was just asking.
