Chapter 100 - A Dinner for Three

Seeing Keira taking the initiative to take the boy's arm and walking towards her quite intimately, Triss's expression suddenly became very surprised. As a good friend and senior, she knew very well how proud Keira was, and few men could catch her eye. As for female sorceresses whose strength, wealth, and rights are at the pinnacle of women, they choose men more because of their own preferences and pay more attention to the quality of men, rather than the status, wealth, or other external things behind them.

But soon, Triss noticed something unusual: that handsome young man not only had a robust physique, a tall figure, and a confident and aggressive temperament, but the most prominent features were his pointed ears and amber vertical pupils. As a knowledgeable female sorceress, Triss quickly guessed the real identity of this young man, but she didn't expect that he was actually a very rare witcher nowadays, and he was also a half-elf.

She opened her mouth in surprise. You must know that the reputation of witchers is quite bad. Although the sorcerers know more truths than those ignorant commoners and nobles, even so, few sorcerers are willing to deal with them. But soon, Triss felt a little impolite, covered her face with her hands, smiled lightly, and said:

"I really didn't expect, Keira, to meet a witcher at your home. This is the first time I have seen one. However, I have heard some rumors recently that a very powerful witcher has come to Vizima City and solved the problem of many monsters in the city."

"Is he the witcher from the rumors?" Triss inquired, glancing at Wayne expectantly.

Wayne turned his head and glanced at Keira. Seeing that she didn't introduce him, he smiled and nodded at Triss, saying:

"Ms. Triss, I am a half-elf, and the person you mentioned should be one of my companions. I don't accept many commissions in the city, and I spend most of my time busy with my own affairs."

When they met for the first time, the two exchanged only a few simple greetings, then returned to the table in the living room with Keira.

Afterward, Wayne assumed the role of a mature and stable man, simply drinking tea, admiring the beauty of the two sorceresses, and listening to their conversation quietly. If not asked, he refrained from speaking too much.

Keira and Triss began discussing the work of their royal advisers, then delved into gossip and secrets of the nobles, along with some discussions about magical skills. While the magical discussions were somewhat incomprehensible, the gossip from the kingdom's nobility and the work handled by the royal advisers were quite captivating, and Wayne listened with fascination.

It wasn't until more than an hour later, when the sky outside completely darkened, that Keira turned her head coquettishly and asked Wayne:

"Wayne, as a gentleman, may I trouble you to prepare dinner for the three of us? After I went to your home for dinner last time, I have been thinking about the food you made for a long time, and I really liked it."

Triss covered her mouth and chuckled upon hearing Keira's words. She then looked at Wayne with curious eyes and asked Keira:

"I've never heard you praise the royal chef's culinary skills. Could it be that the food cooked by Wayne is more delicious than the royal chef's?"

Keira smiled mysteriously, blinked at Triss, and replied as if showing off:

"Wayne has many good qualities; cooking is just one of them."

"Triss, after you've tasted the delicious food he made, you'll know the difference between a genius and an ordinary person."

"Oh!" Triss dragged out the response, sighed, and then leaned in to say something softly to Keira. They both laughed happily, indicating their close friendship as sorceresses.

Of course, Wayne didn't refuse this trivial request. With Maisie's assistance, they prepared several delicacies in Keira's kitchen, mainly desserts and soups favored by ladies. These dishes were innovations from Wayne's time and were appreciated by all the present ladies, including Maisie, thanks to Wayne's current cooking skills.

In particular, Maisie, who was responsible for all the food in the mansion, was won over by Wayne's cooking skills, looking at him with admiration.

Even the two sorceresses, who usually watched their diets, indulged in the meal and enjoyed the delicious food.

After the meal, Keira officially broached the purpose of inviting Wayne this time: a commission from Vizima Town Hall.

She handed Wayne a power of attorney signed by the city hall and explained:

"The situation is this, Wayne. As you know, the construction of Vizima New City consumes a significant amount of building materials daily. The stones used are all transported from Baron Corb's quarry more than ten kilometers away."

"However, two days ago, when the miners were digging, they inadvertently broke into a hidden chamber, and a group of monsters suddenly appeared in the quarry."

"This has severely impacted the construction progress of the new Vizima."

"Mayor Vedlard immediately dispatched a 20-man soldier squad to destroy the monster," Keira continued. "Unfortunately, only half of these soldiers managed to escape back. Based on their descriptions and my analysis, I believe that a group of evil spirits is responsible for the attacks."

"As a witcher, you should understand that ordinary soldiers are ill-equipped to handle these invisible evil spirits," she added. "However, this quarry is crucial for the construction of the new city. It has the best transportation conditions and cannot be abandoned. Therefore, this commission fell into my hands, and I need an expert to assist me in dealing with these monsters."

Wayne listened attentively to Keira's explanation and nodded in understanding. This seemed like a standard commission, albeit with some urgency.

"Do you wish to hire me for this commission, Keira?" Wayne inquired.

Keira smiled confidently and replied, "I don't trust those incompetent soldiers or those useless knights. But I trust you, Wayne. You would definitely protect me, wouldn't you?"

As Wayne pondered Keira's request, a notification appeared:

Ding!!

Task Triggered - [Evil spirit in the quarry], Expert level.

Accept/Decline

Wayne accepted the task without hesitation, knowing that it was of expert level and that Keira, a close acquaintance, was the employer.

"No problem," Wayne responded. "You decide the time, and I can execute this commission whenever needed."
