Chapter 13 - Cliches

Vincent wasn't paying attention to the people staring at him while he walked. His mind was on how he was going to survive his masters.

'I have one master who will try to kill me whenever he teaches me. The other one is probably going to rip my arm off. The other one is there to heal me and ensure I can do it again the next day. The last one is going to judge everything I do.' Vincent sighed as he lamented to himself.

Vincent moved to the left just in time to dodge a guy's shoulder from bumping into him. His body moved on its own. "Watch it." Vincent ignored him and kept walking. 'I guess my body hasn't calmed down.' "Hey, I'm talking to you!" The guy reached out for Vincent's shoulder. Vincent reacted by flipping and putting him in the same submission hold Tyre put him in.

Everyone stopped and gathered around them. They started cheering and shouting at them to fight. A few took out metal balls that turned out to be cameras. One girl started commentating on what was happening.

'Crap. Now, what am I supposed to do?' Vincent had the guy on his stomach with his head smushed into the floor.

"Listen, what I did just now was by complete reflex. I didn't intend to harm you. I just wanted to eat lunch. I will let you up, and we will go our separate ways. Is that clear?" The guy muffled his response. Vincent slowly released him and backed up.

The guy stood up, massaging his shoulders and glaring at Vincent. The crowd cheered and egged him on. "Do not listen to them, dude. They want to see some entertainment; we don't need to give them the show they want." A random person screamed something that made Vincent sigh. "Kevin, kick his ass! He's just some weak kid the Grimm adopted out of pity."

'Great, you just had to mention the G word. I am finding whoever said that.' "Kevin, think about it for a second. That dumbass gave you a warning. He just told you I am from the Grimm family." Kevin ignored Vincent, claws extended from his fingertips. "You are about to have a few scars on your face, pretty boy!"

Kevin lunged at Vincent. Vincent didn't have time to summon his staff. He rolled beneath him and summoned his staff. "Kevin, this is the last time I will warn you. If you attack me again, I will make you regret it."

Vincent's voice left no room for misunderstanding. Kevin's hair stood on his neck, but he let the crowd's cheering get to him. He attacked Vincent again.

Vincent's eyes hardened, and he swung his staff at his feet. Kevin jumped in the air to dodge. 'I got you.' Vincent swung his staff and hit Kevin in the center of his chest. Kevin was launched backward and crashed into the crowd. Vincent could feel the staff sucking away his strength, so he put it away.

Kevin was clutching his chest. "Stay down. I will do a lot worse if you stand up, Kevin. Pride means nothing if you can't breathe to reap the perks of it." At that moment, someone shouted something else. "Oh yeah, like what? Stay asleep for another two years while someone plays with your sister?"

Vincent's baleful aura erupted. His eyes were full of rage. The crowd grew silent. Some of the students froze up. "GET OUT HERE NOW!" Vincent looked over the crowd, waiting for someone to step forward. He directed his aura at them. "Push them to the front right now."

The crowd scrambled and pushed a girl to the front. "P-p-please don't kill me! I had no choice. I was forced to say those things." Vincent looked at Kevin. "Were you also forced?" Kevin didn't respond and just focused on the floor. He turned to face the girl again. "Spill it, who forced you?" The girl shook her head from side to side. "They will kill my family and me."

"Do you think I won't!?" He put all of his aura on her. She collapsed on the ground. He looked up at the camera. "Let me make myself clear to everyone in this academy, in this damned city, and in this empire. MY FAMILY IS OFF LIMITS!" His baleful aura grew bigger and enveloped the entire hallway.

"You will never repeat those words." He took out a contract and signed it in blood. He looked at the girl on the floor. "Sign it."

Nothing else was said. With shaking hands, she signed the contract in blood. A collar and tattoo appeared in the center of her forehead.

"Your life, your future, and your soul belong to me. You will tell me who ordered you." The girl tried to resist, but the more she did, the more pain was inflicted on her. "The pain you are feeling comes from your soul. You are the one who can stop the pain." She finally spoke the truth.

"Fine, fine! It was Rebecca Stanson!" She felt the pain stop and passed out.

Vincent looked in the crowd and did not spot Rebecca. 'Count your days, Rebecca. I will make you pay for this.' He put away his baleful aura and went back to train. No one dared to stand in his way.

They understood they were no match for him. Not even the second years gave off such an aura. Maybe only fourth-years could compete with him.
