Linda looked around to try spotting Hazel's return and finding where her brothers had wandered off to. Something was amiss since her brothers had left, but before asking her father any questions, Linda was more interested in trying to find her friend.
She wanted to celebrate with Hazel right away. See the ring and rub it in the faces of the other women who were not so friendly with Hazel.
Linda wanted to show off that her best friend was now engaged to the prince, but she couldn't do that with Hazel not being in the ballroom.
Linda tiptoed to look through the crowd at the person now arriving as a few heads had turned there. Her eyes widened as she saw that Edgar had arrived.
"Try to make it less obvious that you are fawning over the young Collins boy," Kenneth Henson, Linda's father, said. He had been keeping close to Linda because of all the commotion in the ballroom.
