Author's POV
"Okay, I'm going to the police station right now," said Mr. Mark.
He immediately asked the driver to drive the car. When they arrived at the police station, there was an angry look on Mark's face. He saw the two girls wearing prison uniforms.
"Do you need to talk to the two of them?" asked the police officer.
"Oh no, I'm sure they both hate Christian and love Christian at the same time. Because I know Christian is good-looking. So it's only fair that they do whatever it takes to get back at Christian," said Mr. Mark confidently.
"Well, everything has been done well. There will be a hearing later. So everyone please come. So that everything goes smoothly," the policeman said to Mr. Mark.
"Yes, sir. I just want them to get a fair prison sentence," Mark said firmly.
On the way. Mark immediately called Christian.
"Hello Christian. The police have finally caught the perpetrators of the fire and there will be a trial later. I hope the two girls will get a severe punishment," said Mr. Mark.
"Okay dad, I'll go to the police station right away," said Christian quickly. He was soon on his way to the police station.
"Two girls? So Kitty wasn't the culprit? Then who are those two girls?" asked Christian in the car. He was very curious about who the suspects were.
The black car was now parked in front of the police station. The tall man walked in a neat suit. Some policemen even greeted Christian. Yes, they already knew who Christian was. Christian returned the greeting in a friendly manner. Although he was very lazy to keep smiling in front of people.
"I would like to speak to the two suspects," Christian said to the police officer.
"Yes, Mr. Christian," the officer immediately walked to the holding cell.
"Actually? Who are you?" asked Christian with an angry face.
"Oh, finally the two of us can talk to you," said the curly-haired lili in a friendly manner.
"I don't even know you two," Christian said confidently.
"We were Selena's best friends, but now we might be her enemies. Hahahaha," said Lili, laughing out loud with Sarah. They both looked like crazy people.
"You're both crazy!" said Christian angrily. He quickly left the police station.
In the car he wondered. Were they really Selena's best friends. Then why did they do that?
Selena's POV
I knocked softly on the door. Hoping Lucas wouldn't get angry with me again. After three times I knocked on the door. I finally opened the door. Because from afar through the door window. I could see Lucas's face looking at me. Maybe that means he allows me to enter. I finally entered with slow steps. He was on the bed. Sitting on his laptop. He opened his glasses for a moment. It was the first time I saw her wearing glasses. Yes, maybe it's only used when in front of the laptop.
When he had trouble putting the laptop on the table. My hand quickly helped her.
"I'm sorry I'm here again. It's because I care about you," I said as I put the laptop on the table and also the laptop table I put in a small cupboard.
"Are you here alone?" Lucas asked without talking about yesterday.
"Oh yes, I'm alone. Here's some food for you," I said kindly and placed the fruit on the small table.
"Does Christian not want to see me?" Lucas asked quietly. I saw his eyes seemed to be eager for his brother to visit him who was sick.
"Oh, you know. Your brother is very busy. Ever since Mark's father's company fell into Christian's hands. He seems very busy," I said with a lie.
"Hahaha, you're so good at lying. Yes, actually I do know that my brother Christian doesn't care about me, so he doesn't visit me now," Lucas said with a resigned face.
Honestly, hearing that made me very sad. If I were Lucas. It must hurt like hell. Even though he has everything. But if you don't get encouragement from your family, life must feel so empty.
"You'd better eat this. This will be delicious," I said excitedly. Because I don't want Lucas to be sad. Let's just say I'm here to cheer Lucas up.
"What is it?" asked Lucas with a frown as I opened the large box I had brought.
"This is the best fruit. I bought it at the mall. You'll see it's so tempting," said Selena with sparkling eyes.
Inside the box were the most expensive dates. The most expensive mango and also the most expensive dragon fruit.
"This is very good for your body. You should eat this fruit every day," said Selena enthusiastically opening the dates.
"What are they?"
"They say these are the most expensive dates in the world. So I bought them. You must have eaten them before, right? I haven't," I chuckled.
"Geez, you're overreacting. I've never even had a date. I don't like fruit," she said firmly.
"Huh? How can anyone not like fruit," I exclaimed in annoyance.
"There is, the proof is that I don't like fruit. I don't even like the smell of fruit. I'm so sorry Selena. I don't want to eat that," Lucas said, turning his face away from the box I was holding.
"No, no way. You have to eat it," I said with annoyance. I was going to feed Lucas. I put the box on the bed and move my hand closer to Lucas.
Lucas moved his mouth away.
"Hey don't be like that Lucas, you have to be able to eat this fruit," I said naggingly.
Lucas grabbed my arm and held it.
"Stop Selena, please keep me away from that fruit. I don't like any fruit," Lucas kept trying to avoid my hand.
"Hem, fine if you don't want to," I said with a fake frown on my face.
I put the fruit in my hand into the fruit box. I lifted the box from Lucas's bed and placed it on the table. I pretend to be annoyed with Lucas. I open the balcony door and stand there with my back to the big glass window. Hopefully he'll eat the fruit because he sees me cranky.
"Selena?" Lucas called in a lazy tone.
Okay fine I look back. I see Lucas waving his hand, indicating that he wants me to approach him.
"What's wrong?" I asked with a frown.
"Alright, alright. I'm going to eat this fruit. Don't get cranky again," Lucas said with resignation.
"Okay, fine. I'll take the fruit. You eat the dates first," I said enthusiastically.
Now I'm feeding Lucas. Lucas' face looked so pitiful as he chewed the fruit.
"You just enjoy every flavor. It'll be good," I said with a chuckle.
"You should try it too," Lucas said looking at the fruit box.
"Okay fine, I'll try it," I said and now I was chewing on a date. It feels like eating candy. Yes, it's very good. But it's not my favorite fruit.
"According to an online site I read these dates are very good for health," I said, looking at Lucas.
"I need a drink," Lucas said, looking at the drinks cabinet.
"Oh yes, yes, I'll get it for you," I said, quickly stepping over and getting some water for Lucas.
Lucas took a big gulp. He looks very uncomfortable eating fruit.
"You have to get used to eating fruit," I said, seeing him with a glum face.
"Yeah well, to make you happy I'll eat fruit," Lucas said making me chuckle.
"What did the doctor say? Will my legs and arms be okay?" I asked curiously.
"Well, maybe in a month or two I'll be able to do my usual activities again," Lucas said casually.
"That must hurt a lot," I said, looking at his cast hand.
"Do you want to try it? "
"Oh no no you're joking," I shivered.
"So the fire was intentional?" Lucas asked seriously.
"Yes it was, but I don't know who did it either," I said with a sad face.
"Hopefully the culprit will be found soon," said Lucas.
There was silence between us. I was also actually confused about what to talk about. Because this is a hospital. So it feels like I have nothing to tell you. Because my eyes only see the clean white walls around me.
"When are you going home?" Lucas asked, confusing me. Actually, I don't know either. Because if I go home. I'll meet Christian. I don't like Christian's seemingly arbitrary behavior.
"Why are you asking me that? Am I not supposed to be here?" I asked irritably.
"Let's watch a movie," Lucas said without replying to what I said.
He immediately picked up the remote next to his pillow. While I sat on the sofa and Lucas still sat on the hospital bed. He tuned in a Doraemon movie.
"Do you like Doraemon?" Lucas asked enthusiastically.
"Yes I do, but can you play the old Doraemon series? Because I like it better than the movie," I said in a pleading tone.
"Okay fine, I'll try," said Lucas as he fiddled with the remote.
I felt very comfortable here. I'm lying on the sofa hugging the sofa cushions and watching the television series Doraemon. It was very cozy. A few times I also ate the fruit I bought. Lucas said it was okay if I ate his fruit.
We both really enjoyed being in this room. Even Lucas occasionally laughed at the scenes of Doraemon and his friends. I was very happy to see Lucas' smile. Instead of seeing his sad face. I'd rather see his sweet laughing face.
Every now and then I also fed Lucas the fruits that I bought for him. I kept begging him to eat the fruit.
I spent three hours with Lucas. I felt he was a very good friend. It's very heartless of Christian and Mark's father to shun Lucas just because of something that doesn't make sense.
"That smile of yours is so sweet Selena," Lucas says with a seductive smile.
Damn, he's the only one who tells the truth like that.
"You make my cheeks blush. But I'm not going to melt with your compliments," I said confidently.
"I would have if I had been as successful as Christian. You would have been stunned by all that I am and all that I have. Unfortunately I'm nothing," Lucas said with a resigned look on his face.
"Hey! I'll be your best friend buddy. Just relax," I said with a big smile.
"Do what you like as long as it's good," I said confidently to Lucas.
"All right Selena Watson. You're a good advisor to me!" Lucas said with a chuckle.
"I'm going home. I'm afraid Christian will get angry if I stay out too long. Because I turned off my cell phone earlier."
"Alright, be careful on the road. If anything happens just call me and I'll be right by your side. But that's just my imagination," Lucas said with a chuckle.
"Yeah, how can you run with your sore legs and arms," I said sarcastically.
"I could use a car," Lucas said uncertainly.
"It seems like it would be very difficult," he said with pursed lips.
"You'd better pray that I'll be okay. Bye," I waved goodbye.
I walked away with a fairly relieved heart. In the middle of my uncomfortable thoughts with Christian because of his behavior. I was comforted by visiting Lucas. Yes, it lifted my mind a little.
My feet stepped casually outside the hospital. It's a good thing there's no car to pick me up. That means I can use public transportation. Yes, although I have to wear a mask. Because I'm afraid someone will recognize me. I'll get angry from Christian. I have to keep Christian's good name. Because that's one of the agreements in my contract with Christian.
When I got on the bus. Suddenly my eyes saw Cody at the other end. Damn. Looks like he recognized me. I was dreading this meeting.
"Selena," Cody called and I couldn't get off the bus anymore. I was forced to sit in the second row. I looked at the window next to me. I hoped he wouldn't recognize me. But unfortunately he is now beside me.
"Selena, I knew it was you," Cody said softly right in my ear.
I looked at his face. My eyes saw his face with a sharp gaze. I still held anger in my heart.
"Suddenly Cody's hand grasped my hand tightly. I tried to release him with all my might. But he was too strong.
"Let go of me Cody," I said firmly. I didn't want to make a scene on this bus.
"Please let me explain what happened. Please Selena," Cody said with a pleading face. Really his face made me go to the past where he loved me so much. But is this really happening? I mean is he really going to be nice to me?
