**Emily**
Fuck the mate bond, fuck the goddess, fuck fate!
You might be wondering why I keep saying fuck these guys, well it's because fuck the mate bond for trying to force me to mate and mark my mate, fuck the goddess for actually giving me a mate in this god forsaken century and fuck fate for even letting me come to this god forsaken century in the first place.
I've spent two weeks away from Nicholas and now I'm regretting it. The distance has triggered the mate bond and now all I can think about is mate and mark.
Today I almost lost it.
And the fuck is wrong with Nicholas? Why did he kiss me? I mean I have the mate pull to blame but what is his excuse he doesn't feel shit, he doesn't even know that I'm his mate and yet he kissed me.
Maybe if he didn't kiss me, I'd have managed to leave that office without giving in to the mate bond.
'Oh, my gash you kissed him. You fucking idiot, do you know what that kiss will do to us? To me especially. Do you not care about me even a little?' Mia practically yelled at me. 'Relax Mia it can't be that bad.' I said trying to ease her a little.
But who am I kidding, because of that god damned kiss, we'll be going into heat any time soon. Before you ask why we'll be going into heat any time soon, I'm going to explain a thing or two about us werewolves and our mates.
Each wolf has a mate blessed by the moon goddess herself. She works together with Fate to ensure that we have our perfect better half. It doesn't sound bad right?
In order for us to identify our mates she put something called a mate pull in us, it is found in our scents.
To complete the mate bond, we have to mate and mark each other. If mates find each other but don't mark themselves the mate pull forces them to mate and mark each other, it mostly does that by causing the female to go into heat which drives the male crazy.
And I just triggered the heat pheromones by kissing my mate.
Oh, dear goddess what did I do to offend your holiness? "How long do you think it will take before our heat starts?" I asked Mia. "I don't know. We should just stay away from Nicholas as much as possible." She replied. "The last time I checked, staying away from him is the main reason I lost control." I said to her. "Any way lets go take a bath."
I took a bath and changed out of my maid uniform, thankfully I've gotten a hang of these clothes. Every now and then Nicholas would invade my thoughts.
His face, his body, the feel of his lips on mine, his hands on my waist, my back. Fuck this is torture the mate bond will be the end of me one day. "Let's go see him." Mia said. "Oh wow, weren't you the one who said we should stay away from him." I laughed.
I arrived at his office door just in time to hear his gamma say, "Have you and Elizabeth noticed, how she came from nowhere and how she has you two wrapped around her finger. If that doesn't look like a red flag to you well let me tell you, it's fucking scarlet red." Shit I knew someone would begin to doubt me. Everything was just too quiet to be true.
What the fuck are they even talking about?

**NICHOLAS' POV**
It's been two weeks now since Emily and I kissed, and I can't get it out of my head. No girl has ever caused me to react like that to just a kiss. What if we went further? No I shouldn't think of that, I just managed to cool down.
"Alpha, I think there is something Roman has to tell you. Come to your office." Came a mind link from Simon my gamma. What has that idiot done this time.
I went to my office and found Elizabeth, Simon and Roman already seated. I looked at Roman who had guilt written all over his face. "Roman care to explain why we are gathered here." I asked when no one seemed to want to say anything. "I might have told the humans that you already have a queen." He said not meeting my eyes.
"You what?!" I shouted. "Bro, relax. They wanted to arrange a marriage for you and their third princes as a way to strengthen our alliance. So I just said what came to my mind." He said. "When did you even meet the humans? I thought you went mate hunting." I asked. "It's a long story."
"So why are you telling me this now? We had two weeks to find someone who can pretend to be queen. Where do we find someone fit for the role in just hours?" I asked. I am already exhausted as it is. "I'm sorry. I thought that wannabe Luna was still around, she would have loved the role." He said.
"I think Emily can suit the role." Came Elizabeth's suggestion. "Emily? Why her?" I asked. "Who's Emily?" Roman asked of which he was nicely ignored. "I don't know if it's just me, but Emily has the temperament of a queen. Something about her presence makes you want to bow to her." She said.
Yeah, I also noticed that she has an aura of an alpha. I also thought I was the only one who felt it. She doesn't belong to this pack but somehow, I feel she is the right place, maybe that's why I have never bothered to asked her about it.
"Coming to think of it she does fit the role." I said. "Are you seriously going to give that role to an outsider?" Simon asked. I don't know why but him calling Emily an outsider annoys me. "Have you and Elizabeth noticed, how she came from nowhere and how she has you two wrapped around her finger. If that doesn't look like a red flag to you well let me tell you, it's fucking scarlet red." He continued.
"Seriously, who is Emily." Roman asked again, just then the scent of vanilla filled the room. "Well you are about to find out, come in Emily." I called out.
She walked in, she had already changed out her uniform which I have noticed she rarely wears. "Sorry to intrude, I didn't know there was a meeting in here." She said. "No, it's fine, we were just about to call you." I said.
I noticed how she looked at Simon with an expression I couldn't read.
"Do you think she heard what Simon said just now?" Mars asked. 'I don't think so. These walls are designed to be sound proof even for werewolves.' I said.
"Oh my, is there something I have done to offend the Alpha, princess, beta and gamma?" she asked as she took a seat next to Simon. Wait wasn't she supposed to wait for me to tell her to sit. "You must be Emily I'm Roman. But how did you know that I'm the beta." Roman asked after he introduced himself.
Wait how did Emily know that he is the pack's beta? As far as I'm concerned this is their first time meeting. Simon looked at her with suspicion full in his eyes as he waited for her answer. "Beta blood runs in your veins. If there was an older man with beta blood in this pack I'd say you are the Beta's son but since you are the only one there is, it's easy to conclude that you're the beta." She replied.
She can distinguish blood?!?
Isn't that something only an alpha can do. Everyone looked like they all had the same thought going on in the heads. "How are you able to tell what type of blood flows in his veins?" Simon asked.
For a split second I saw panic flash across her eyes before it was replaced with confusion. "Can't all wolves do it?" she asked. "I've always been able to do it ever since I got my wolf, so I thought every wolf can." She said.
So, no one ever told her that only alphas can distinguish blood types? Now I would like to know who raised her. "Can I meet your wolf." Simon asked.
"Sorry, she doesn't like you." Emily said, not in the list bit polite. Does her wolf like anyone? And how the hell does her wolf has different feeling from her?
Aren't they supposed to be one?
'No dumb ass, we don't have the same feelings, it's just the matter of dominance, we wolves are mostly inferior to the human, so we just do what the human wants. So, for the fact that her wolf gets to choose who gets to see her means that they have come to a mutual agreement that they are equals.' Mars said, and I could sense a bit of envy in his voice. "It's every wolf's dream to be equals with the human, sadly only a few get that privilege.' He said with a bittersweet smile then shut me off.
Well, that was strange. Judging from everyone's expression, I think they just had the same conversation with their wolves. "How are you and your wolves equal?" Roman asked, proving to me that they also just had the same conversation with their wolves. "It's something you do before you shift, you said you were about to call me, can you please tell me what you wanted me for?" she quickly changed the topic.
After having a long mind link conversation, Roman and I finally managed to convince Simon that Emily means no harm and that she is the best candidate for the position.
"We need you to pretend to be Nicholas' wife while the humans are around." Roman told Emily. "You sure your gamma is okay with that?" she asked as she looked at Simon again with an expression I couldn't read. 'Do you think this two have something against each other?' Roman said in our mind link. 'I don't think so. They have never talked, well not that I'm aware of.' I replied.
"Well, he doesn't need to be okay with it. He's out numbered." Roman said. "Okay fine so anything I should know?" she asked. "Nothing really. You just have to be by Nicholas' side act queenly and we're good." Roman said. "Oh, and you two will need to share a room." He added.
"Wait what?!"
Emily and I said and the same time.
