**Nicholas' POV**
I stood in front of the room Elizabeth said was Emily's. 'What are we doing here?' I asked my wolf. He kept insisting that I come and check on her. 'You can't tell me that I'm the only one who saw that her wounds had started to heal, I'm curious. And besides, we need to thank her for what she did for our sister.' He said.
Thank her? Mars hardly says thank you.
With one knock, the door opened. "A-Alpha?" a very shocked Josette stuttered. "What brings you here." She asked as she lowered her head in respect. "Is Emily in?" I asked. She looked even more shocked if that's even possible. "Yes, she's taking a bath. Let me inform her that you are here." She said and quickly closed the door.
I could tell she was nervous, most of my pack members fear me. Not that I'm ruthless or something, I just do not tolerate rule breakers and my punishments are never soft. I'm friendly to everyone but when you hit the wrong button, I can't guarantee your life. It didn't take long before the door reopened. "She said she'll be coming" Josette said then walked out, leaving me alone outside.
A few seconds later, Emily opened the door. She was just in a bathing robe, her hair still dripping wet. I found myself following a drop of water that had dropped on her necklace clad neck and got lost somewhere between her boobs. The robe didn't do a very good job in hiding the size if her boobs. Damn, are they perfect. They are not too big nor too small, they are just the perfect size. I could already imagine my hand wrapped around one as I squeeze her tities that were protruding, wait what? Where the hell did those thoughts come from?
I snapped out of whatever that was just in time to hear her say, "Alpha? Please come in." She opened the door wider for me to go in.
The room looked nothing like a servant's room. I knew there was something odd about the location of this room. A personal servant's room is opposite to their master's room not next to it, meaning Elizabeth put them in a guest room.
I took a seat on the couch, Emily sat on the bed across me. She didn't sit like a lady at all, neither did she sit like a servant. She sat more like a carefree teenage boy, she definitely isn't from around here.
Women in this pack are very strict with the way all females are raised. "So what brings you here?" she asked as she adjusted her robe to fit her sitting position. It's inappropriate for her to be in nothing but a bath robe in front of a man that isn't her mate or husband but she doesn't seem in the least bit uncomfortable or ashamed. Neither does she seem like she is trying to seduce me. If anything, she seems like this is a very normal thing to her.
"Alpha?" she asked, that's when I remembered that she asked me a question. "Oh I came to thank you for what you did for my sister." I said sincerely. "You are welcome." She said. "Though if I may ask, why did you do it." My curiosity got the best of me. "I mean; I can tell you are new here so you most likely do not know Elizabeth all too well to do such a thing for her. So why did you do it?" I asked. She smiled, "Alpha, it's because I believe that no woman should be forced to marry someone who isn't her mate. Even if it is for the benefit of others." She said.
"Which pack are you from?" I asked, I had to know which pack I didn't know that had such bold women. If I saw panic in her eyes, it's either I imagined it or she quickly hid it. But why would she panic, what is she hiding? Should I be worried? 'Oh come on, quit with the paranoia already. I don't sense any danger lurking from her.' Mars said. 'Why do I have a feeling you have fancied this girl?' I teased. 'Oh. Fuck off.' He said then blocked me out.
"I don't think where I'm from has any importance, besides I'm a servant now. My pack doesn't exist so knowing it is irrelevant." she simply said. But why is she dodging the question? I remember, she also didn't tell the elders her last name. What is she hiding, does it have anything to do with why she heals fast.
Maybe she's from a healer pack, all healer packs were wiped out because someone found out that if you kill and drink a healer's blood you'll become stronger than you were. If she is, then it makes sense that she's hiding where she is from. "I apologies for asking." I apologize.
She smiled and I swear my heart skipped a beat, her smile is breath taking when up close. "It's okay. And just a piece of advice, An Alpha doesn't apologize easily. It shows weakness." I was taken aback by what she said, I remember my father always said that during my alpha training.
But hearing it from a girl...
**Emily's POV**
I was so worried over nothing, I had made the worst possible reasons for my mate to come here. I thought maybe he had noticed that I healed quickly, and he came to ask about that, or maybe Mia was a bit late to hide and he actually discovered that I'm an alpha wolf. But none of that was the case.
He actually just came to thank me, but I feel there is more to it than what meets the eye. He even asked me what pack I came from, I'm just thankful that he didn't push it when I didn't tell him. For an alpha Josette said to be powerful, he sure is too soft if you ask me.
Josette walked in as soon as he left, and she had a shocked look on her face. I furrowed my brows at her in confusion, "What?" I asked. "Don't tell me you were dressed like that when the Alpha was here." She pointed at the bath robe I hadn't had time to change. "I was, why?" I asked her, I mean what's wrong with what I'm wearing. I looked at myself, but I found nothing wrong, it's not like the robe left anything to the imagination.
Josette looked at me like I have committed a felony, "No one but your mate or husband has to see you dressed like this, and you let the Alpha see you. Do you want to be tinted as a mistress?" she exclaimed.
Ugh, the old centuries and their useless rules, we are wolves for crap sake, nudity should be something we embrace. If any of these were to go to the twenty first century they would die of a panic attack.
"Chillax, it's not like we did anything. He just came to see if I was okay." I told her and she looked at me weird. "Did you just say the Alpha came to check you? Someone who openly disrespected the elders?
That's strange, maybe he likes you." She said, her face had a look of confusion and curiosity, even how she manages to make such a face is a wonder.
Josette helped me get dressed, because apparently, I don't know how to wear corseted dresses. After that we went to Elizabeth's room to just lazy around because she didn't have anything for us to do. If I'm being honest the only fun thing I had today was my punishment, I'm not used to just sitting and doing nothing. I should be training or fighting or whatever, not sitting around and doing each other's nails.
'This is humiliating.' Mia said letting her presence be felt. 'Aren't you supposed to be locked up or something?' I asked. Last time she was out we almost got caught. 'Stop being so paranoid, Nicholas isn't around.' She assured. 'And how the hell do you know?' I asked her. There are a lot of things I don't know about my wolf which is unfair, she has full access to my life but not the other way round. 'Off course you also have access to everything I know, you just never bother to check. And to answer your question, I can feel my mate when he's in fifty meters' proximity.' She said.
Oh, yeah, wolves are more attached to the mate thing than us. I actually wonder how she isn't scratching my insides trying to go mate with her mate.
"It's night!?" Josette said, more of a statement than a question. Then Elizabeth jumped out of her bed, "Who's up for a night stroll in the pack garden?" she asked excitedly.
'Finally, some fresh air.' Mia over dramatically sighed. 'Oh, come on. You were just in for a few hours,' I internally rolled my eyes. 'It's still long. And I think I'm going to collapse due to the lack of the adrenaline rush.' She said dramatically again.
"Emily?" Josette asked, that's when I noticed that they asked me a question but I was too busy having a conversation with my wolf to hear the question. "I'm sorry what?" I asked, bringing my attention back to them. "Elizabeth asked what you think your mate will be like." When she asked my brain was quick to bring Nicholas' face up. "My mate?" I asked to be sure I heard them right. "Yeah, when you meet him." Elizabeth asked.
"Well…" I started "First off, I think he's an Alpha." "Why do you think it's an alpha? Are you from an Alpha lineage?" Josette asked. "I just think such a bold and strong she-wolf like myself would be mated to an Alpha or a high ranked official." I easily dodge her question.
I could see Elizabeth wanted to say something but we all heard movements in the bush. Then I smelt them,
Rogues.
Before we could do anything, we were surrounded by six big brown wolves and one in human form. "We won't hurt any of you, provided the princess leaves with us willingly." I smirked, 'Finally, some fun.' Mia said.
"Elizabeth, Josette, stay behind me." I said to them and they obeyed. Then I turned to the rogues with a smirk, "Alright boys, let's dance." I said as my canines protracted and my eye turned gold.
They all launched at me at the same time, I used my wolf speed to push Josette and Elizabeth out of their way and also quickly slipped down causing them to hit each other then they all growled at me, "oops did I anger the dogs?" I asked with an innocent smile, wolves feel insulted to be called dogs so I earned myself another growl.
The dress was hindering my movements, so I extracted my claws and ripped out the sleeves and also reaped the hem to make the dress short, now I'm ready to fight. I miss my dagger, but my claws will have to do for now.
The first wolf charged at me unknowingly leaving his neck vulnerable to my claws so I quickly sliced it's neck, four more met the same fate, the other two died by me crushing the skull, only leaving me the one that was in human form. He looked between fear, confusion and disbelief.
Guess it's his first time seeing a bad ass bitch. "As much as I would love to kill you, I need you to go and tell who ever sent you that the next time he tries to do this a bad ass she-wolf will be here waiting for him." I said then before I turned to the petrified girls, I looked at him, "Oh, and don't forget to mention the part where a girl single handedly killed six wolves." as soon as I was done he ran like his life depended on it.
I turned to the girls, "Are you guys okay?" I asked in a soft tone, they looked so fragile like even harsh word would break them.
Before any of them could answer I was hit by a scent that had my insides turning . "Elizabeth!" came his melodic deep voice.
