**EMILY'S POV**
I could see the confusion Nicholas had on his face. I mean it's not every day you discover that your pack has been working with hunters for centuries.
But with how I know hunters, they can never work with any supernatural beings. So, if they have been working together all this long it means this is when they have noticed something off with this so call "Kingdom" and now they are here to check.
Question is, what sold us out?
Thank goodness I'm not affected by silver like most wolves, so that bought us some time. But I know we didn't fool them, I noticed how they looked at everyone else when they all refused to drink the wine.
"Sleep, we'll figure everything out tomorrow." I told him and then blew out the candle.
After I was sure that he was fast asleep, I silently dropped off the bed and walked out. Heading towards the wing that the humans where using.
"Did anyone see you?" I heard Prince Charles voice whisper to someone. He was speaking so low that if I didn't have this abnormal hearing sense, I wouldn't be able to get them. "No, no one did." Replied a voice I recognized as their third in command Edwin.
"Are you sure this place is soundproof? We don't need any wolves hearing our conversation." Charles asked. "I'm very sure. Werewolves have enhanced hearing, so they build their walls very thick making sure the rooms are soundproof so as to give each other some privacy." Edwin said confidently.
Oh, wow, these walls are so soundproof that I can hear their conversation.
"Good, now, how did you find out that this is actually a wolf pack and not a Kingdom? I mean my family has worked with them for centuries." Charles asked. "In life you can never be too careful as. There will always be a slip up." Edwin said. "These past times that I've been coming here, I noticed how a lot of things seemed off.
For starters, how this place always seems fresh every time we come, like they are covering something. Or how much males are protective of their wives, it's pretty obvious that they have mates and not wives.
But what made me more suspicious was when I heard a growl from someone after Aron (the second in command) touched a girl he didn't know was married. I decided to investigate the place, guess my surprise when I saw a teenager secretly shift in the woods." He explained further.
How lovely, the "perfect" mate bond just sold the pack out.
"So, what do we do now, how sure are we that all of them are wolves. We can't afford to kill innocents." Charles said. Oh, what a saint he is. "Well, I know their queen is not a wolf." Edwin said, shocking me, he confidently said I'm not a wolf.
'Mia, do you hear this?' I laughed. 'If you are not a werewolf then what I'm I?' she laughed as well. 'I think you are a figment of my imagination.' I spoke.
"How do you know?" Charles asked. Yeah, I also want to know. "That wine you gave them had odorless silver. And the amount of silver in it was enough to knock her out, yet she didn't even have a reaction." Edwin explained.
"You added silver to the wine!" Charles whisper yelled. "Do you know how dangerous that is? Imagine if she was a wolf and collapsed right after drinking the wine 'I' poured, the alpha wouldn't have thought twice before he had my head for killing his mate." He said. "Relax your highness, I had thought it through. If she was a wolf and she collapsed her mate would have collapsed as well. And who's her mate?" Edwin asked. "Nicholas." Charles said as realization dawned on him. "And with both their alpha and Luna down the pack would be a mess, giving us the best chance to attack." Edwin explained reminding me how I now have a weakness.
Fuck the mate bond.
"Oh, you are so smart. But why did you not tell me about the wine." Charles asked Edwin. "With all due respect your highness, you have one expressive face. Telling you would have alert them." He replied. "So, when do we attack?" Charles asked. "First, we have to find out what other supernatural beings are here.
Hunters. What bad luck.
But wait, why does this feel a bit familiar? 'The history books.' Mia said. That's when I remembered reading about it in the history books. The blood moon pack suffered a great loss, this pack has a total of eight hundred people making it one of the largest packs. But it was reduced to two hundred people after they were attacked by the hunters they worked with.
But in the book, the alpha, beta, gamma and princess drunk the wine resulting in all four of them being extremely weak, the warriors had to fight without a leader.
They fought hard but lost hundreds of people, both women and children were killed mercilessly. They lost their gamma and princess, but thankfully they managed to save their Alpha and Beta. Shortly after they were attacked by hunters, rogues attacked them. Because of their reduced number they couldn't hold up a fight against the rogues. The fight ended with the alpha killed and the beta enslaved.
And that was the end of the once powerful blood moon pack.
But they didn't drink the wine because of me, does this mean the future has been altered? Does this mean I could change the future of this pack? Because there is no way I will let my mate's pack fall to lowly humans that call themselves hunters.
I am so playing superhero in this century. But first, I have to warn everyone, I don't know what these humans have up their sleeves, History books just say that the hunters attacked they don't say how.
I was on my way back to Nicholas' room when Simon's voice stopped me. "Where are you from. Emily?" he asked. I turned to face him. "I believe that is none of your business, gamma." I said to him.
He then pushed me against the wall, with a tight grip on my neck chocking me, he's eye shown gold telling me that his wolf had surfaced. I could easily fight him off, but I didn't want him to hate me more than he already did, he's not my enemy he's just doing his job which is looking out for his alpha.
"Listen, I don't know who you are or what you want with the Alpha. But you should know that I have my eyes on you, should anything happen to him, or should you hurt even a strand of his hair, I will personally make you regret the day you were born." He said.
I loosened his grip on my neck because the lack of air was becoming unbearable. "Don't worry Gamma, I can never hurt your Alpha." I said to him breathlessly as I patted his chest. He glared at me with his gold eyes trying to intimidate me.
"What's going on here." I heard my mates voice roar.
I wondered why he sounded upset. That's when I realized our position; Simon's hand was still loosely holding my neck while my one hand held the hand that was on my neck and the other was on his chest, his glaring eyes looked like they were staring at me passionately, while I was still out of breath due to him chocking me, we both didn't tidy up when we got out of our beds so we had a disheveled look making it look like we just shared a passionate kiss.
