The night dark, even the moon had cast away it's shine reflecting the events taking place at the moment. Shouts and hasty footsteps could be heard in the thick forest "Split up and catch those rats you imbicels" the shabby looking man commanded his minions who ran in different directions to look for the children.
Muffled screams echoed as some of the children were caught and shoved in some sacks. "We got them" one man with a lean figure and a bald head reported to the leader. The scrawny captain narrowed his eyes looking at the sacks " Where is the other one" the two men looked at each other and one of them stammered "We couldn't find her sir"
"Go and find that little bitch now she's the reason we came here anyway the others are utterly useless and you have to find her she is a prized asset to us now scram" the men quickly ran to look for the girl.
The little girl who had her hair looking like a bird's nest and her clothes torn even more due to the bustling of the bushes. She ran, her little feet stepping wherever they could. Despite all the stings she felt under her feet, she never stopped running. Seeing a little bush, she hastly pushed her small body inside.
After a while she saw the men's muddy boots infront of the bush. Not wanting to take any risk, she put her hand over her mouth to diminish any noise that could be heard from her. "That old hag is not going to give us the rightful amount of coins we deserve for doing all his dirty work let us just leave" both of them left the place, making the girl a little bit relieved.
The morning came and the sound of birds chirping graced the place, with it's eye catching green pigment and nature. The little girl who had slept on the ground frowned in her sleep, as she felt something moving eerily on her arm. She opened her eyes to look at her arm and a loud shriek came out of her mouth as she took a huge leap backwards. She tossed the millipede that was crawling on her hand away with a stick, before wiping away the slipe it left with her dress.
The little girl walked deeper into the forest and after several minutes of walking nonstop, she came across a dust road. It really looked like carriages crossed this path quite often. She sat down on the side of the road and started playing with the dirt. Suddenly, she heard carriage wheels from a distance. She quickly stood up and waved at the approaching carriage. The man who held the ropes tied to the donkeys came to a halt upon seeing the girl.
"Hello there young one, are you loet" the middle aged man asked her in a soft tone. The young girl quickly opened her torn dress and untied the thick cloth that was tied around her thigh, unwrapping the cloth, she gave the man a piece of paper.
The man narrowed his eyes as unfolded the note to red it, he read the contents of the note and gave it back to her. He got down from the carriage and helped the girl to sit next to him. He took out a small bottle from one of his jacket pocket and asked asked for the note. He carefully placed the note inside the bottle and sealed it off.
"You should keep that safe alright" the girl nodded as she put the bottle in her dress pocket. They continued the journey and the scrutinised the place all the way.
