Chapter 20 - Someone's Here

Akron was a nearby kingdom that Viktor had set his eyes on and invaded within the last 2 years. So in addition to his plan to control everything in the kingdom of Manar he was also taking over another kingdom. Viktor had defeated Akron's army and was now planning to finalize the takeover of the territory by going there himself since it was just the army that had been sent.

The most notable thing about the Akron kingdom was its religion which was a big part of its culture, something the kingdom of Manar didn't have. There was a special temple in a remote location in the kingdom that was revered and dedicated to the worship of their god. When I read the book it stated that Viktor wanted to go to this temple and that it was important to him for some reason but never really explained what made it so important to him.

"It seems a bit strange that he would set out with a few attendants to go to this place. What if it's a trap to lure us into thinking?" Aldric pointed out.

"It does seem suspicious but if we want to get a chance as good as any, where Viktor doesn't have much protection around him this is the only time to attack him by surprise," Griffith went on. "Besides it'll be in foreign territory which can be an advantage to us."

The dukes were planning to attack Viktor at a time when he was vulnerable. So that they had a better chance of winning against him.

There was silence for a moment before someone spoke up.

"Okay we'll put it on the table for now and look into it further," Aldric said.

"Whilst we're figuring that out we also need to calm down the people in port towns and cities who want to retaliate," Isaac stated with a sense of urgency.

"He's right, that's a more urgent issue," Aldric countered.

"I tried to talk with the Lords in charge of those towns but they all shared the same sentiment." Isaac said.

"We'll have to talk to them again

The three of them had so much to deal with. I thought to myself. In addition to the things Kara subjected them to on a daily basis, the work they did for Viktor, they also had to do this. So much to have to juggle around.

It's sad despite all their efforts they would still die in the end.

I let out a quiet nervous sigh. I had been listening in for a while now but I had to enter at some point. But do I just walk in there and say what I had to say? I asked myself. "But what would I say to them?

" Hey guys I know you hate me and you're surprised to see me but I'm here to tell you I'm on your side... "

When I was with Aldric in the dungeons it was clear to see the but this time around I had to properly convince them.

'You can do this,' I told myself. Just walk in there and talk to them. But what would I say?

These men hated me, how would I convince them to listen to me? I then stumbled and smacked my body against the door, making a loud thud noise in the process and the door shook.

The three men's voices stopped. And my heart felt like it stopped beating for a moment as I froze in the spot as well. Shit.

"Someone's here," I then heard Griffith say.

I gasped and my eyes widened in shock. I began to slowly back away from the door.

"I'll go check," I heard Aldric say and heard footsteps move towards the door.

I turned around and began to run away. I don't know why I was running away when I wanted to go inside only a moment ago. Why was I getting cold feet all of a sudden?

I planned to hide further in the underground rooms. Just when I reached the corner about to turn into the next corridor, my eyes widened in horror as I was suddenly lifted from the ground and I let out a terrified shriek. I was then slung over a shoulder and the person turned around to go back to the room.

How had the person gotten to me so quickly? I could tell from the strength of the arms and build of the person that it was Aldric. There was no use fighting back so I let him carry me. Once in the room, Aldric put me down in front of Isaac and Griffith who were watching then took the hood of the cloak I was wearing off.

Very quickly their expressions of confusion turned to looks of horror as they realized who I was.

"Your Highness?" Griffith asked loudly in shock.
