It's been three days since the incident at the hospital happened, Ken and his father have been staying in a hotel room until they can find a suitable home.
Walking into the room, Daiki drops a bag on the table and lays down on his bed, Ken looks at his father, seeing how worn out and exhausted he was "did you find us a home?" He asks, getting a hum as a answer "it's ok. You can tell me the details later. I know you're tired," his father hummed again and soon after started snoring.
The two haven't talked to each other much after what happened. They were never good at things like this and left it up to Haru to keep things sunny and bright, and now thinking about her only brings them both pain.
Waiting seven hours while watching TV, Ken's father finally wakes up and drinks a bottle of water near the bed. "Ready to talk now?" Ken asks, waiting for an answer, and Daiki speaks "yeah found an apartment building in Musutafu. Two rooms and one bathroom should be good enough," he says, scratching his head and yawning.
Getting up and stretching Daiki speaks "we'll be leaving in two days I already checked the place out so we can move in right away" Getting up along with his father Ken puts his shoes on and looks at his father "Alright but I want to see her before we go" His father didn't say anything he only walked out of the room followed by his son.
The drive there was quiet as usual, but the air felt heavier until they arrived at the cemetery. Walking towards a grave stone with the words Haru Kaneki on it, Ken gets on his knees and begins to talk to his mother's grave. "Hey mom, it's good to see you again even with all the bad things you did. I still miss you, I will never understand why you did the things you did, but you really hurt dad. We haven't been talking lately, but that's not really surprising, is it? We never was good with this kind of thing…always left that work to you." Tears started rolling down his face. He wiped them and got up, walking towards his father. "You sure you don't want to say anything?" The boy asked, sniffing and wiping his nose. Daiki looks at the grave with an expressionless face and speaks. "I have nothing to say to her right now." He turns around and begins to walk away with Ken following behind.
Two days later, the two were welcomed into the home by their landlord, Daiki already had furniture ordered for the place, so they made themselves at home immediately sleeping the rest of the day in their respective rooms.
Being woken up, Ken opens his eyes and sees his father over him. "Get up, you're going to school," rubbing his eyes. Ken looks at him with genuine surprise "really already?" His father nods his head and walks out of the room. Getting up, Ken walks to the bathroom and takes a shower he gets out and puts on his school shirt and blue shorts.
As his father drives him to school he thinks about how his school life will be now considering he has a quirk, sure he'll probably be treated better now but he'll never forget the dark side of this society, trusting people will be very hard for him going on from here. Arriving at the school, Ken's father signed him into the role and left for home.
Walking into his class, he sees many different children with mutation quirks and others looking at him with interest, with the teacher telling them they have a new student, Ken bowed and introduced himself. "Hello, my name is Ken Kaneki it's good to meet you all." Immediately after his introduction, many children started talking at once, but it all came to one question "what's your quirk!?".
Ken stood there with a blank expression and chose not to answer the question."Sensei, is there anywhere I can sit?" The teacher clears his throat and tells Ken there's a seat in the far left in the back of the class.
Taking his seat and listening to the teacher lecture, the bell eventually rings for the students' gym class, leading the students around Ken to surround and ask him questions. He didn't answer every question they had and mostly stayed quiet, making them lose interest in him.
Arriving outside for gym, Ken sees many children playing and talking, but one thing that mostly catches his eye is three kids bullying another green haired kid. He wasn't much of a hero in his opinion, but he would admit seeing such things annoyed him, to say the least.
Walking over to the bullying Ken begins to speak "you sure look like your having fun, if I didn't know any better I'd say your a villain in the making" the three boys stopped and one with blonde hair begins to speak "WHAT DID YOU SAY AND BESIDES WHO EVEN ARE YOU!?" Not answering the boys' question, Ken stepped to the right, showing the teacher arriving on the field, getting the students ready for activities.
The blonde haird boy grits his teeth and speaks "I don't know who you are but you better watch yourself" storming off with the other two in foot Ken walks over to the green haird boy and bends down "man they really got you huh" he said looking the boy over, grunting and getting up the green haird boy dusts himself off.
"Thank you for helping me but I think you just made things difficult for yourself by helping me" Ken raises a eyebrow and looks at him confused "why you say that, and besides why were they beating on you?" Before the boy can tell him anything, the gym teacher called the boys over to do exercises for their grades.
Later that day when school was ending Ken waited for his father to pick him up only to see the green haired boy drive off looking sad, before he could worry about the boy circumstances his father arrives ready to take him home. He got in and closed the door. "How was it?" His father asked looking through the mirror at Ken "it was the same as always just school" the boy said looking out the window watching the world around him turn into a blur from the speed of the car.
