Chapter 73 - Explaining The Conversation to Girls

Okay, I may have gone a little too hard on the Headmaster.

But I've tried to explain to him more than once that what he's doing is nothing more than creating an environment ready to erupt into chaos.

But he firmly rejected all my proposals and I ended up losing my patience.

Maybe it's his personality that makes me lose my patience.

He acts all wise until you start analyzing his decisions and if you don't worship him all you see is a temporary bandage that will need to be changed, but in the end it never is.

This infected bandage is just an illusion that the problems has been dealt definitively.

He admitted that he knew of Voldemort's return in advance, but had not yet started to move. He acts as if the inconvenience of preparing in advance outweighs the benefits.

AAAAAHH!

At that moment I must have looked like a crazy person, standing in the middle of the castle with my hands on my head, mentally fighting with myself.

Good thing there seemed to be no one around me.

I have made possibly the most powerful wizard alive today my enemy.

I walked back towards the Slytherin common room.

The castle was half empty at the moment, the students weren't going to miss the opportunity to go to Hogsmeade, even though most of them had only been back for a few days.

Again, leaving the castle on weekends is one of the big differences from the time children were taught here. Before, there were specific weekends that students could go to Hogsmeade, but adults have more rights than children, one of then is more freedom.

Arriving at the room I found the girls in a heated argument about something, but as soon as I opened the door at four they stopped talking and looked guilty.

"Has the topic of conversation arrived?" – I asked sarcastically.

MIllicent looked like she wanted to hide, Gemma laughed, Bridget blushed and Ginny looked at me defiantly.

I had some ideas of what they were discussing.

But unfortunately I didn't have time to discuss it.

They were soon anxious to know what I had said to the Headmaster.

"You spent over an hour talking to the Headmaster, what did you talk about?" – asked Ginny, alarmingly curious.

Gemma followed suit and adjusted herself on the bed curiously.

Bridget and Millicent also paid attention to me when the question was asked.

I raised my hands to calm them down a little, especially because I didn't have very good news to tell them.

"I had a long conversation with the Headmaster, with many pauses for reflection and I may or may not have insulted him several times and threatened him at the end." – I told the girls in front of me, trying not to sound too bad.

A pillow came flying towards me from Ginny. She was a Gryffindor, the same house as the Headmaster and her family had tremendous respect for the old man.

"What were you thinking to do such a thing?" – she asked through her teeth.

I scratched my head for a moment trying to look innocent.

"He wanted to know if I was using Dark Magic to get powerful faster and I assured him that I'm doing nothing of the sort. He also raised the possibility that I was gathering pureblood girls for some purpose and I also assured him that you being purebloods have nothing to do with any kind of plan." – I started explaining to them.

The girls paid attention to my words to understand where the conversation took a turn and I started to offend the Headmaster.

"From there we started discussing events since the last war and the Minieaters. He thinks I have been playing too aggressively against them and fears retaliation. My point of view is that they don't matter and only their parents pose a momentary danger to us. The point that I believe I started to be most incisive about was the fact that he admitted that he knew the war was not over and was just going on hiatus." – I explained to them.

Of course I offended him a lot before that, but I didn't need to tell him exactly how my conversation with him went, until that moment he had taken the offenses I had said very well.

"I was very emphatic that he makes people believe in him and place their hopes for peace in the figure he represents, but at the same time he is not doing the minimum to prepare them for what is to come." – I continued explaining to the girls using all possible euphemisms.

Their gazes became complicated at this moment.

"Is he really not preparing for you-know-who's return?" – asked Ginny worriedly.

I nodded at her.

"His preparations are minimal, it seems he believes that people need to live in peace more than they need to prepare for the war to come. He confessed that he had hope that Voldemort would not return, even if it was small." – I explained to her and the girls.

Slytherins don't normally have much respect for the Headmaster, but I wasn't swayed by the herd behavior that most Minieaters force on other students.

I simply thought very differently about him and him trying to act like the wise old man irritates me a little since he's just a baby in my eyes. I can usually contain myself in scenarios like this, but his entire philosophy went against my experiences.

"After talking about this and not reaching common ground we ended up arguing about politics and the fact that Hogwarts education has been in decline over the last century and how his hands are tied. I may have mentioned that he can teach people on his own and prepare them in case the magical world is exposed, but he basically denied all of my arguments. The world has not known anything about magic for centuries and has evolved alone on the path of technology, it is afraid that there will be a conflict between the Muggles and the magical world. But he's not willing to prepare if that happens." – I said, trying to condense a little of our conversation.

The setting seemed too far away from the girls for them to normally care about it. So when I mentioned this they seemed more uncomfortable.

"He is trying to cling to the existing system and will not accept any proposals that would jeopardize the peace that magical society currently enjoys." – I explained to them.

As much as he sees the dangers and mistakes of society, he would rather cling to it than actually change how the world works.

He is the most powerful Wizard of the last century, but he does not believe he is capable of bearing the weight of guiding society. Maybe it's fear of what he could do with all that power in his hands.

"I proposed that he create an organization dedicated to protecting the wizarding world without political influence, but he was adamant that it is not possible. A military force would leave the wizarding world in fear. But at the same time he revealed that in the United States of America the Muggle government is in conflict with magical society and possibly they are using force to try to unlock the secrets of magical power." – I explained to them.

This was too far from them and didn't affect our daily lives much. But it was also a possible scenario.

"In the end I asked him not to get in my way." – I finished recounting the conversation.

Gemma was the first to wake up from her thoughts.

"You went too far in your conversation and you probably didn't mention how you offended the Headmaster so as not to worry us, could you summarize how you offended him?" – she asked.

I smiled awkwardly.

"I said I didn't clean the school of Minieaters out of respect for him. And I called him a naive idiot a few times." – I replied.

I saw the girls bite their lips at my words.

I took a deep breath.

"We need to accelerate our plans a little. In a maximum of one year we need to have all our formal education ready so we can dive into our own magical paths. From the way the Headmaster said it, we don't have much time until Voldemort returns. We need to prioritize your soul growth." – I declared trying to get them out of the thought cycle.

Gemma got up from the bed and started to take off her top.

"There's no point in worrying now, the idiot has already offended the Headmaster. Now we need to make sure we are not caught by surprise." – she said while unbuttoning her skirt.

Like it or not, she was the one who thought closest to me and that made my smile evident on my face.
