Chapter 106 - DESPERATION

Josh noticed Myra and the boy beginning to drift apart, their movements subtle at first. Realizing Ashley was succeeding, he positioned himself directly behind Myra, his body taut and ready to act. Kyle moved to Doris, mirroring Josh's stance and preparing to intervene should anything go wrong.

Ashley's brow furrowed with strain, beads of sweat forming at her temples. She felt resistance as though the connection between Myra and the corpse was fighting back. The light pulsing around them flickered erratically, its intensity fluctuating as if in protest.

"You've got this, Ashley," Josh muttered under his breath, watching the distance between Myra and the boy increase with every passing second.

Finally, with one last push of effort, it was as though an invisible rubber band snapped. The force of separation was immense. Myra and the boy flew apart in opposite directions.
