(A/n: Alternate title below)
(POV: Tristan Devroop Akvash)
And finally, my new journey has begun on foot to a place between Oregon and Idaho. My Father told me that I would be closer to my destination when he tried teleporting me. Why does it still feel like I'm still in a bunch of woods?
Funny enough, though, I was watching him struggle with teleportation magic months ago, too, but the implications of why he was working so hard from before to now make it tragic. But when it came to cutting things, he had a knack for it... Now that I think about it, he had subconsciously created his entire style of magic when it came to killing...
That sounds pretty badass, but I guess it's not something one should brag about to friends... But knowing he'll probably do that when he drinks too much, screaming something like, 'Scoreboard!!! Scoreboard!! HE DIED LIKE A BITCH!!!!'... Maybe I'm just trying to?!?!?!?!
(POV: Third Person)
The voice that lives rent-free within his head interrupted Tristan from his thoughts
<..... You know what, let me take a step back and take a deep breath, *heavy breathing in and out noises* You do remember that we had become a mage not too long ago, right?> Tristan gave a quick nod, confirming his voice's question was correct.
<Then why don't we give that magic a try, Tristan? I'm pretty sure you know what it was in the first place. If not, then I'll give a news flash: it's f#cking shadows.> Tristan sighed and then told that voice of his through my thoughts.
'Oh, believe me, buddy, I sure as hell would love to do it now, but if I really want to try out my magic, then that would mean I'll have to stop.' If his random voice had a face, then he would look smug right now and begin teaching Tristan his first lesson.
<Well, Tristan, I have to tell you this: you are enormously in tune with your magic already; the shadows are your ally, Tristan. Close your eyes, Tristan, as you walk in this snowy forest, feel the shadows from within it, and it will take you to where you desire, but don't worry about the start of your growth, as it's just the beginning!> The voice, for the first time, showed a bit of emotion.
And that was what Tristan did. He closed his eyes. as he strode down the path to his destination. The shadows from the trees nearby and whatever held a shadow within his vicinity began to dance around little by little in a slumberous motion of symphony as if delighted to be called upon with each stride Tristan made. The only shadow that moved the most was his own, and that was where Tristan began to focus on his own shadow instead of what was around him and made it change into countless shapes.
Still, Tristan desired to create an amalgamation of eyes for his shadow, similar to that one guy from Bleach, The King Of Quincies. With his desire taking form, there were countless eyes made of shadows contorting, and the original human-like body of the shadow was no more as he focused on moving those shadow eyes upon himself; his body was now wrapped similarly like last time, but this time instead of a cocoon, it was a humanoid shaped costume made of shadow with eyes all over the place.
And that was when he saw the entire world in a different view. It was like a mirrored world to the place he was in now, but everything just looked like shadows to Tristan. "Wow!!!! Now, this is something else!!!" Tristan said out loud as he still kept walking through the snowy woods; the voice also spoke up.
<Now that you have gotten used to feeling the shadows, you can actually toggle with those shadow eyes surrounding you so that you can see normally> And again, Tristan listened to the voice, and everything went back to normal... Except for the fact that he is now looking through all of his shadow eyes at the same time
"Hmm... This is odd... I guess I do have a knack for this shadow stuff... But seeing every direction feels weird; I mean, looking into what my shadows see is much easier." The voice said simply to him
<Well, first off, Tristan, you have been working on what you have called anomalous energy for about five years, creating so many different types of new genus strands of marijuana with it.
You are already instinctually in tune with that energy before you had it also, and because these shadows of yours aren't much different from your anomalous energy when it comes from control and usage.
Even though I would have to say your anomalous energy is genuinely more flexible in some ways, As it seems to bring out your imagination to an endless degree, and I find that captivating, your quantity is what's holding you back for now... Also, try to focus on one or two eyes instead of Tristan, as you are forcing your shadows to see what you see instead. But work on it long enough; then they will start focusing on your vision instead unless you desire to see their mirrored view instead> After the voice said that, he smiled to himself and said something out loud to the voice while still playing with his shadow suit, this time turning it into spikey black armor.
"So, what nickname should I call you? I can't be thinking of you just as a voice all the time, can I?" the voice was a bit stunned when it heard that and gave it some thought before answering.
<Well... I guess if I wanted a name, then it shouldn't be something edgy or something too cringey, so you could call me Zil. It's simple, short, and sweet.> The voice, now named Zil, said. And now Tristan used his thoughts to talk to Zil.
'Thanks, Zil, for the lesson, and also, thanks for not letting me contemplate over my p- parents. When thinking about them for too long, it just makes me feel worse... It makes me want to go back to their direction instead... I-I want t-to see them again, Z-Zil. And also, d- does it make me w- weak for me to be sad?" He said with his shakey thoughts towards Zil as Tristan's tears began falling. As he moves forward, Zil's only words to Tristan were
<Anytime, Tristan, and no, it doesn't mean that you're weak for being sad. That means you loved them dearly, it means that all of the time you spent with them had meaning, they were always there for us to their bitter end... As I also miss them too, Tristan...> and with that, there was complete silence without Ana around to make up a conversation to make them feel better, as they are slowly beginning to let their reality seep. The only thing Tristan did was play around with his shadow armor as he walked alone.
~5 hours Later~
Tristan's journey felt like a long one for him, but his time seemed well spent as his range increased a bit above fifteen meters. The silence from all of the walking brought a different charm to Tristan. And then the same beautiful voice from last time echoed near Tristan.
{I'M BACK TRISTY!!!!~ DID YE MISS ME, SWEETIE!!!🖤🖤} As Tristan looked around for the voice, to his right side was Ana floating around on top of a black-like pool float. This time, instead of wearing her original dress, it was a black two-piece bikini that showed off her entire body in full display; her eyes from before were changed into a light glowing gray instead of the original deep red. For some damn reason, she came back with a bikini in the cold weather; Tristan was staring at her with utter confusion while looking at the fact that she was lying down on a dark cloud to her side with her head leaning on her hand, smiling seductively towards Tristan. Before Tristan could say anything, Ana immediately interrupted.
{NAH UH AH!!! TRISTY, LET ME ASK YOU SOMETHING FIRST BEFORE YOU START ASKING ME THINGS 🖤~ IS THAT ALRIGHT~🖤} Tristan, with his befuddlement, only shook his head yes before she asked seriously.
{Where the hell are you going, Tristan?} She sounded just as confused as how Tristan felt when looking at her bikini. But Tristan answered, still in a daze.
"Ummmm? I was going to go to Idaho up north, right?" Tristan said, but this time with unease. Ana's Gray shining eyes widened. She was trying to keep a poker face but ended up bursting into a laugh.
{PFT!!!!!!!! HAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!!!! *SIGH* are playing with me right now, Tristy... Do you even realize how far away you are from Idaho?} But sadly, all she got from Tristan was.
"But Dad teleported me closer to Idaho? Where am I even at then?" Ana stared into Tristan's eyes for a bit longer, looking at him with pity at this point.
{Tristan, you were moving completely away from Idaho... At this point, you are quite close to the edge of Alaska, where you would have to swim to St. Lawrence Island... Tristan... What the fuck were you doing while I was navigating around?} Tristan and the voice Zil felt something broke within them, and something was bubbling inside Tristan. This feeling was complete and utter rage. Tristan walked for so long expecting his Fathers's plan to succeed, but even that became a pipe dream.
At this point, Tristan can already imagine his Father shrugging his shoulders while saying, 'Oopsies?!?!? Mr. Slim Shadey, I guess you're on your own with this one.' while giving his son a peace sign with a big ol smile on his face. He once again fell onto his knees, something that became a running gag for his expense at this point. Both Tristan and Zil started screaming in the air at the very top of their lungs at the same time.
"JUUUUUUUUULLLLLIIIIIIUUUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!"
<JUUUUUUUUUUUUUULLLLLIIIIIIUUUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!">
While Zil was silently furious, Tristan was not done fuming outwardly
"FUCKITY FUCK FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!!! GOD DAMN IT ALL TOOOO HEEEELLLLLL!!!!!!!!!" Finally, when Tristan breathed heavily as both of his hands were on the ground looking at the snow, Ana was immediately by his side, patting him on the shoulder. And comforted him.
{There, there, Tristy~ you know as well as I do that this isn't the end of the world, right? I bet you're hungry right now, and I got some beef jerky to eat...} Tristan slowly looked up at her, now wondering why/how she changed her clothes from a black bikini to a tight black buttoned shirt, a revealing short skirt, and black stockings, and sneakers. But without saying anything, he took the beef jerky and said with a depressed sigh.
"Thanks, Ana... And what was with the bikini last time, and now you're wearing something like that." he pointed towards her new clothing, and she covered her breast with her arms provocatively and said.
{Well, I'm just trying to arouse you a bit~, And it's cute to see you blush every once in a while~ 🖤 Scratch that. It's cute to see it all the time~ 🖤} Tristan, this time, tried his best not to blush... but there was that haunting familiarity from somewhere; it's like that memory is trying to scratch its way through. He couldn't help but ask her directly as he finally began to stand.
"Do we know each other somewhere before? You are way too familiar to me; I mean, not even the connection itself between us should warrant that familiarity either; I mean, to the point where we should have met before, right." at that point. The entire atmosphere changed. Ana still looked the same; she didn't seem mad at all, but those eyes began to look obsessively and longingly toward Tristan.
{Tristan, don't try so hard to think about it; I can see in your eyes that looking any deeper into your memories is as painful as it is for you... Try focusing on the present instead until you are ready... And also, please walk the other way back instead if you want to get any closer to Idaho.} At the end of her words, she looked sad as she began to dematerialize. Her final word before she dematerialized was
{Also, you shouldn't be talking to yourself so much, Tristan, as that's the first sign of Schizophrenia~ 🖤 I told you I'll always be watching~}

(A/n: This chapter was to establish his new magic, the voice, and his bad luck while a crazy anomaly is watching him. Don't know if this chapter was good or not, but I hope it was a fun read for anyone. It was a short chapter, in my opinion. Short but fun)
