Chapter 17 - The hybrid (blessed or cursed)--Chapter 17---Minos Dead or Alive??--

Akabba's clan was silent as they all witnessed the death of Minos. As the black lightning stopped, a large man dropped down from the sky and grabbed the lifeless body of Minos and jumped back to the sky.

After a while, the barrier was lifted and a few people went to scout the battlefield, while Xin was still screaming with her face red and filled with tears. She shouted until she lost all her strength and fainted. The young men hurriedly carried her back to Minos's hut, as it was very well known that Xin was the wife of Great Minos.

Dark Council Dungeon Area

"I see you're awake," a loud but clear voice said immediately as Minos regained consciousness.

"The name's Decimus Furius, but for now call me the dark Minotaur god." Decimus said as he looked towards Minos, who was chained to a wall.

"So you're the dark god. I wanted to say it's a pleasure to meet you, but circumstances won't permit." Minos said calmly as he scanned his arms and legs and also tried to examine the chains with beast eyes.

"A question though, if you're truly a god, why am I in chains? Or are you saying a god like you is scared of a mere human?" Minos continued, hoping to rile him up and make him remove the chains.

"A mere human, you humor me, child. I know you're exactly like I am - a Minotaur - but what I can't understand is how you can transform from your human form to a Minotaur at will without the use of the skeleton ring." Decimus said, flaunting his ring.

Immediately Minos saw the ring, it looked awfully familiar and he began to think where he had seen such a ring before. After a long thread of thought, he thought maybe Dario was the one wearing it, as he knew no other Minotaur.

"Dark god, I like your title and I think I like it. Why don't we settle this in a duel? I see you're interested in the practice of transforming back and forth without the restriction of a magic trinket, and I want my freedom and the dark council's head on a golden platter." Minos said, knowing that these chains were almost unbreakable.

"Nice, I like the way you think, young blood. Let's meet in seven days for the duel, and don't worry about the dark council. You wiped out almost 95% of their troops. Your village is safe, at least for now." Decimus said, causing Minos to shake his head.

"I know you are with the dark council and your power alone can destroy my village. After a while, Minos finally said, let's make this match to the death."

"That's not a bad idea, I've been itching for blood recently and yours feels like the type that will quench my thirst. But what I need from you is your memory. If I kill you, how will I get my reward?" Decimus asked.

"Easy, I will confide in someone three days before the match, but on a condition that if I die, the person must remain untouched and you must protect and deliver her back to the village. So we got a deal?" Minos asked.

"Sure, but I'm not taking your word for it. Let's do a Minotaur's pact." Decimus replied.

"Okay, sure. Let me out of these chains." Minos said, as he couldn't free his hand from the chain.

"Hope you know how to do the Minotaur's pact." Decimus asked, as he was somewhat sure this post-teen had no idea of ancient knowledge.

"Of course I do," Minos said, as he had already found information on the study guide installed in his brain.

Shocked, but quickly regaining his composure, Decimus freed just one hand from the chains. He decided to let Minos do the pact himself, so he could observe his skills and possibly laugh at how bad he was. The pact wasn't normal, as it required blood and energy power core of Minotaurs, which in this case, it was ki.

Using only an arm, Minos was very smooth in the process of creating the bond, even smoother than Decimus himself.

"You're really something." These were the last words Decimus said as he removed the chains binding Minos after the seal was completed.

"Eren," Minos called out slowly as fire enveloped his figure and Eren, "the ashen dragon", emerged with his harmless look of a bird.

"Eren, travel back to the village and give me a full status report on my wife." Minos ordered as his heart ached thinking of Xin.

Xin's Pov*

After a while, Xin regained consciousness and found herself lying down on top of Minos's bed. She began to cry as the memories of everything he had done resurfaced; his smile, cockiness, annoying behavior, everything just flashed before her eyes and she felt she was going mad. She began to mutter,

"You said you wouldn't die yet. You said you'd come back for me. You promised to take me out of this village. Minos, you JERK!!!"

She immediately screamed out in frustration before bowing her head to continue crying.

Unbeknownst to her, the entire event was broadcasted to Minos by Eren using telepathic waves.

"Eren, let me talk to her," Minos said as Eren flew close to Xin, whose head was still down.

"Hun, I never knew you loved me so much to cry for me." Minos's voice resounded from Eren's mouth.

"Minos." Xin muttered as she immediately raised her head up and began to search for the source of the voice, only to see Eren on the bed with her.

"Remember I told you I'm not dying yet and I'm not dead or planning to die, so be a good wifey and wipe your tears." Minos said with a short laugh.

"Jerk, if you die, I'll kill you. You hear that? So stay safe, alright?" Xin said with red cheeks.

"Okay, Xin, let's talk later. You need to get something to eat. I feel like you haven't eaten anything for a while. So please get some food. We'll talk later."

"Okay, I'll try to eat." Xin said, but Minos's voice never replied.

Her mood just took a swift turn. She was no longer sad or frustrated, but happy and eager for Minos to come get her.

Minos Pov

Minos, after he stopped the transmission, kept thinking about how he could multiply his strength, as now he truly wanted to win. He was slightly regretting making the match a death match, as he felt that if Xin watched him die, she might die sooner than expected due to depression.

"Fxck you, damned system. Why must you be inactive at this time of my life?" Minos cursed as he was truly frustrated by the turn of events.
