Josh Santos pov.eight years ago.
remember when I spoke about going late to school not being funny.
well.
that was because I didn't like going to school that much.
it was a different kind of hell and that was because I wasn't comfortable with the other kids.
they were basically bullies who liked to inflict fear on thier victims.
I was rendered useless before them.
they was noting I could do.
apart from rachel.
i had other few friends at holy high.
Abel.Willie and Blake.
my circle was small but we got along well.
holy high is a school which has its middle and high school students in the same building.
it was built by the council.
I was born here.my father and mother had relocated here before I was born.
I stared at the black iron gates.it was locked.
at the other side was a building which contained all the staffs and teachers.
No one was in sight.
not even the gate keeper.
Rachel had a frown on her face.
she was pissed.
"I told you this would happen one day."
she said.
"we should just leave."I said.
I dn
I didnt want to be punished or ridiculed by anyone.
over the years.
i had been given many names but the one that really stuck was the latest one.
it was a nickname the kids had formed.I hated it.
"you must know yourself better than anyone josh."
"am not going home till I get in."
said Rachel.
"thanks for being such a scumbag."
"it's not my fault."
"save the explanations for them."
she sighed and began to walk toward the gate.
"you can go back if you want josh."
"I can't go back home today."
"why not?
"the gate is locked."I said.
she continued to walk toward the main gate.
Rachel began to ring the bell.
fear held me down.
I wanted to run away.
I was staring at the surrounding.
for any sign of teachers or students.
the windows in the building were open.
"hello."
"is anyone here?asked Rachel.
the compound was huge.
they were cars and bicycles parked at the parking space.
few buildings inhabited the back of the land.
a basket ball court. a cafetería. staff office and other facilities were among these spaces.
"who the hell are you?
asked Mr Laran.he was the gate keeper. He came from back of the building.
"am sorry sir but we came late."
Mr Laran was a tall slender man who worked here as a gate keeper.
he never did condole late coming and I knew this.he had an angry look on his face.he was staring at his watch.he walked toward the gate.
"why the hell are you coming at this time?
"we missed the bus."said Rachel.
"well."
"that is so sad young lady."
I was a regular late comer and we never did get along due to issues with coming late.
"did he miss the bus too? he asked.
Rachel nodded.
"we both did."
he had a look of consideration on his face.
I was behind reachel. a few distance away from the gate.
"well."
"you can come in little miss."
"but not him."
"he's a regular."
"that one." said Mr Laran.
I scoffed and changed my countenance.
Mr Laran opened the small gate.
it made a creaking sound.
"ok now."
"get in."
Rachel stared at me with a pitiful look on her face.
my eyes met hers for a while untill I dismissed her look and turned to the opposite direction.
I began to walk away from the gate.
"as right little bugger."
"if you ain't ready to learn."
"Just piss off."
mr Laran said. I kept walking.
the sound of the gate closing could be heard.
I never did like coming to school.
I didnt like being caged in a building filled with miscreant and bullies.
