Sonya's lashes shook as she blinked rapidly. She looked down at the hand she used to hit Louise. She raised her eyes and stared at Louise, who was looking at her with unblinkingly wide eyes.
Just like the people around him, he was shocked to his core that she hit him. Then he rubbed his cheek where it stung, and in the process, he smeared blood on his face.
"I... I'm sorry," Sonya stuttered, stretching her hand to touch him. "I didn't mean to hit you;; itit was out of a sudden impulse.."
"That's... okay," Louise said in a whisper, not rejecting her touch, but his gaze made her hand pause mid--air. Deep within his surprise were disappointment and hurt.
His eyes were looking at her, but she felt that he wasn't really looking at her but at the person behind her.
"You never took my side when it concerned him, and even now you still take his side," Louise said, rubbing his bloody hand against the other.
