The world seemed to have frozen as Brenda stared wide-eyed at Thomas. She was too stunned to react and Thomas dominated her.
Her body reacted before her brain and for a second she would have kissed him back, but an image suddenly flashed in her mind. She quickly backed off from him. Raising her hand, she landed a slap on his right cheek. She was burning with rage, her eyes glared daggers at him and her hands trembled beside her.
Thomas stepped back, his cheek ached, and he tasted blood in his mouth. "I needed it," he murmured.
"How dare you? You've crossed every limit today, Thomas..."
"Why then? Why aren't I allowed to love you? Why can't you love?" Thomas hissed, asking Brenda the questions that were bottled up in his heart.
He wanted to know why she didn't open her heart to love and let herself be lonely.
"It's my personal life. How does it concern you? You seem to have forgotten that you are my enemy," Brenda sneered.
