Louise just glanced at her and didn't comment on it even though he knew the woman was making excuses.
The woman didn't want to get involved with him and that is an indisputable fact he came to realize. However it still bothered him, she was treating his daughter with so much affection and kindness but was treating him, the father like an enemy. His lips slightly twitched and he sighed.
When they got to the car. Sonya debated about whether she would sit at the back with Sianna or at the front with Louise.
"You can sit at the back with Sianna," she heard Louise say and her eyes snapped to look at him. It seemed he had seen her hesitation and it would only confirm his thoughts that she hated him, which she did anyway.
However contrary to Louise's expectations she opened the front door and got in. Without looking at him she turned to smile at Sianna, whose eyes brightened significantly when she saw her.
"Surprised," Sonya wiggled her eyebrows " Come on let me take you to my favorite cake shop,"
Sianna smiled more brightly, stunning not just Sonya but Louise who had never seen her smile like that before.
Louise's gaze was quick to fall on Sonya and he stared at her with mouth agape like a fish. Sonya controlled the impulse to roll her eyes at him.
After getting over the excitement of seeing his daughter smile, he started the car and they drove out of the school.
Sonya was very conscious of Louise sitting beside her. Her heart kept hammering in her chest as she struggled to keep a neutral front.
From the corner of her eyes, she watched him and marveled at how he had changed over the years. His face was more chiseled and handsome than before where the hint of childish charm he had before had gone.
His blue eyes were less expressive and in it, she could no longer find any sort of playfulness. She was staring at him lost in thoughts, unaware that Louise had realized it.
"Do you find me that handsome Ms Aquila, you've been staring at me for a while now," he said breaking Sonya's train of thought.
A hue of pink settled on Sonya's face, and she quickly looked away. "I wasn't staring at you with such motives," she defended, her eyes turned to stare outside the window.
Louise's lips tugged up slightly, again with the excuse. He wondered if the woman liked him but was been shy to come forward about it.
She had stared at him long enough to know that it wasn't just out of curiosity, not that he minded though. For the first time, a woman's gaze on him didn't repulse him or make him uncomfortable.
Anderson alighted from his car and stepped into the city general hospital. His assistant walked behind him with his jacket in one hand and a tablet in the other.
"Harry, Make arrangements with the board of directors this evening, I have something important to discuss and make sure my father doesn't find out about it," he said to his assistant who walked behind him.
The assistant nodded and noted it down on his tablet while trying to keep up with his boss.
Because Anderson was a tall man with long legs, his assistant who was shorter than him had to run behind him to keep up, as the man was in a haste to meet whoever he came for.
They stepped into the ICU where they met a man in a black suit who led them to a room. Harry stood outside while he watched his boss get into the room.
He wondered what his boss was cooking up now. The company is already at the top of the food chain but it seemed like the man didn't want to continue being under his father's rule and wanted to spread his wings.
Louise had done the same five years ago when he left the Cole conglomerate and decided to establish his very own company.
Anderson walked into the hospital room and sat down while facing the man who was on the bed with different plugs and wire-like stuff around him.
"Get up now," Anderson ordered as he crossed his leg over the other. The man on the bed didn't move and his lack of response irked Anderson so he got up and harshly pulled away the things on the man's face.
The man's eyes snapped open and he stared at Anderson blankly for a second before he burst out laughing.
"Do you think this is funny? I didn't come here for a chit chat so you better start talking,"Anderson stated annoyance clearly in his voice.
"Tsk, you are no fun," the man tsked and sat up. His head was full of white hair and his eyes squinted when he smiled. "Your son tried to get rid of all his files in my possession. He is the first patient to raid my office and I must say I almost died of a heart attack," he said.
Anderson looked at him coolly, but his mind was pondering over something. He heard from one of his men that Louise had raided his doctor's office and collected every file that had to do with his illness in the past. He couldn't fathom what was running in his head lately.
He had noticed the subtle change in the child, where her inability to communicate with people has significantly improved.
"You weren't doing a proper job, Mr Humphrey," Anderson drawled sending a glare to the man.
"How is it my fault that the boy wouldn't open up completely, it would have been easier to erase that memory if he had just complied a little bit more, that would have saved him future troubles but he refused," Dr Humphrey scoffed annoyed.
"Why did you fail to do it before?" Anderson asked.
"He just wouldn't, it is as if there is a particular memory he didn't want to forget, and no matter how hard I tried, he kept resisting and there also is your father who promised to reward me handsomely if something bad was to befall his precious grandson," Dr Humphrey sighed like an old man who had seen enough of the worlds troubles.
"He wanted to heal I wonder what changed, and what kind of change would make him steal from my office?" He sighed as his eyes came to rest on Anderson who was seated beside him.
"He found a new doctor, Sonya Aquila," Anderson replied.
"Name does ring a bell, sounds like the name he always called when he was unconscious but it also is the name of Pearl's famous heiress," Dr. Humphrey rubbed his chin in thought.
His words seemed to have caught Anderson's attention as the man squinted "What?"
Louise's car rolled to a stop In front of the shop Sonya had recommended they go to buy the cake. The name of the shop 'The King's Choice' was hung above the shop with the ads attached to it.
Louise got down and helped his daughter, who decided to stick with Sonya.
He stood before the shop and softly said in between his laugh, "It appears that you have the same taste as us."
"You come here?" Sonya asked with surprise.
"Yes, in fact, this was where we wanted to get the cake before you suggested taking us to your secret stall. But it turns out it's still the same place," the way he said it was as if the both of them were connected by fate or something.
Sonya didn't know how to feel about it, this place was where she had brought Louise once to fulfill her promise while he was stalking her.
She even thought that along with her, he would forget this place but he didn't. Then what made him forget her? Was she so insignificant to him?
Louise saw her forlorn look and suddenly felt something prick his heart.
"Did I say something wrong Ms Aquila? Don't you think this is fate?" He asked. Sonya jolted awake from her thoughts at his words and almost glared at him
Is he hitting on me she thought
Louise didn't seem to realize his words until Sonya smiled at him and said, "If that is so then we are connected by fate to those who frequent here and are regular customers,"
After saying that she took Sianna's hand and led her into the shop.
They walked into a corner and sat down, Sianna was the one going through the menu for the type of cake and snacks she wanted.
Sitting so close Louise got to see Sonya more better. She was indeed a beauty to behold. With her head pulled into a bun, her face looked more defined. It was spotless and smooth.
While waiting for the cake, Louise placed a headphone on Sianna's ear and played her favorite song.
He looked turned back to her for a few seconds before he asked, "You sure you didn't attend Brainstorm or any school in country H? I can't help it, you look oddly familiar to me. Like we've met before somewhere,"
There was a deep frown on his face as he and his eyes scrutinized her expression closely.
