There is no one more suitable to be the sutra picker in the Buddhist door than Amitabha. Not to mention Golden Cicada, even the Buddha Tathagata cannot compare with him.
Amitabha is the one whom Jiang Chen has appointed as the next Supreme figure in the Buddhist Door. Buddhism will prosper in his hands and his position will remain unshakeable.
Even if, centuries later, Jiang Chen is driven out of Spiritual Mountain because he couldn't overcome the likes of Buddha Tathagata, the position of Amitabha will still remain steady.
He is designated as the Supreme of the Buddhist door, this is the will of Buddhism. Unless Buddhism disappears, even a saint can't defy this.
Also, this is the backup plan prepared by Jiang Chen for himself. One should always prepare for the worst, like if he can't beat Buddha Tathagata.
