In the skies less than a kilometer ahead of this US Army unit was Yan Fei's Drone Avatar. However, the sky was pitch black at the time, and combined with the radar stealth capabilities of the drone, not only the American soldiers but also armed helicopters failed to detect the Drone Avatar hidden in the darkness.
The US Forces didn't know the location of their enemy. They fortified their position while seeking military support from their base to the rear.
