Chapter 16 - Chapter 16 Boxing Club

"Early in the morning, Gu Fan was awoken by several muffled bangs from his sleep, followed by a few more. With a puzzled face, he wondered where they were coming from. Whatever the case, it seemed that his sleep was over.

So, Gu Fan got out of bed to investigate. Once he opened his door, he figured it out; the bangs were coming from the room across. This brought him to another question, what on earth was Su Hui up to?

Gu Fan feared that Su Hui might be tearing his old house apart, so he knocked on the door, only to hear a reply, "Come in, the door's unlocked."

On hearing this, Gu Fan felt an odd anticipation as if something awesomely unexpected awaited him behind that door. As he pushed the door open, he saw Su Hui clad in a tank top and boxing gloves, relentlessly beating a punching bag.

Gu Fan could vaguely discern a man's face stuck to the punching bag. Su Hui seemed very committed, putting a lot of effort into each punch, raining down a set of beautiful combination punches that made the bag seem as if it were wailing in pain.

Seeing Su Hui dripping with sweat from her efforts, Gu Fan softly commented, "I think this is a great morning workout. It's good for both physical and mental health, and it also allows for venting any lingering frustrations."

Pausing at his words, Su Hui looked at Gu Fan expressionlessly. With a sudden thump of apprehension in his heart, Gu Fan inwardly sighed, fearing he might have offended this divine grand dame turned tenant turned bodyguard.

"Have you ever boxed before?" Su Hui's sudden query caused Gu Fan to start. He quickly shook his head, "I am someone who reasons things out and promotes peace, preferring verbal exertions over physical ones, as befitting a gentleman and a scholar. No, I have never boxed."

After a load of nonsense, he finally got to the point. Unable to suppress a bemused eye roll, Su Hui tossed another pair of boxing gloves from the table to Gu Fan, "There's always a first time for everything. I'm off today, so you're joining me for a session."

"But I haven't had a full breakfast yet, don't have the energy to work out this early," Gu Fan was not eager to get beaten up. He knew well that he couldn't stand a chance against a skilled policewoman, and given her current temper, he was afraid she might lash out.

"We'll grab breakfast on the way, my treat. As for the hygiene things, I'll give you ten minutes. And if you're going to say that you have previous commitments, then cancel them. I'm in a bad mood, don't worsen it," Su Hui finished her piece, tapping her fists together in a threatening manner.

Faced with Su Hui's formidable intimidation, Gu Fan nodded in understanding, "Sure, it's about time to try out a new form of exercise to make workouts more enjoyable."

"That's more like it," Su Hui said as she slung her bag over one shoulder and grabbed Gu Fan by the collar in the other, leading the stupefied latter out of the door. "Hey, didn't you promise me ten minutes to wash up? You're not keeping your word."

"Didn't you know that women are fickle? I changed my mind. There's a bathroom in the club," Su Hui's words left Gu Fan baffled. "Club? What club? Aren't we supposed to spar here?"

After a bit, under Su Hui's guidance, they arrived at the entrance of a boxing club. Gu Fan felt quite uneasy and quickly asked, "Wait a minute, if you're not going to box at my house, or at the free facility in the police station, why pay to flaunt your skills here? This is rather confusing."

Su Hui sighed, "No choice, constantly beating up colleagues isn't great for camaraderie, especially when we have to work together. So, I need a new place to vent out on some inconsequential people..."

"What do you mean 'inconsequential people'? Are you referring to me?" Upon hearing this, Gu Fan felt a chill down his spine. His expression changed into one of wanting to escape, "Sorry, new places give me upset stomach. I think I'll pass today."

However, Su Hui was unyielding and dragged Gu Fan by his ear right into the boxing club. As soon as they entered, the lively bustling environment felt as if they were raiding the place.

The club was already filled with people, mostly men, some hitting the punching bag, others practicing on the boxing ring, and a few using the gym equipment. But when Su Hui entered, everyone stopped in their tracks, their expressions more horrified than enchanted, likening her to a dreadful demon rather than a beautiful woman.

"Sister Su's here...," all present greeted Su Hui respectfully. She responded back politely with a smile, even waving at a few individuals.

Gu Fan was utterly befuddled. However, seeing the sympathetic looks around him, he knew he was in for a rough time.

Su Hui took Gu Fan next to a punching bag and earnestly advised, "You can try practicing on this bag for a bit to get the hang of it. I'll be back in a while, and when I return...you know…" And with that, she turned and left.

Gu Fan cursed his luck. He was in no mood to admire Su Hui's attractive retreating figure as the sudden realization sank in that when Su Hui returned, it would probably be his turn to get a beating.

While Gu Fan was contemplating whether to seize the opportunity to run away in Su Hui's absence, he thought about how he might be able to escape now, but he couldn't avoid her forever. They lived under the same roof, and if Su Hui were to find out he ran away, she could return home in a fury and give him a thorough thrashing.

Another person barged into the boxing club, looking around as soon as he walked in. He quickly located the person he was looking for and, unable to contain himself, ran towards Gu Fan.

"Wow, can't believe it's true, that policewoman really moved into your house!" This person who came to seek Gu Fan was Lu Yi. He was clearly excited, rapidly losing control, he could hardly believe it was real.

However, Gu Fan seemed indifferent, "Yep, I told you in the messages. She's become my first tenant, and she wants me to spar with her."

But Lu Yi appeared joyful, "This is the perfect opportunity for physical contact with a beauty, it's divinely arranged, it's destiny, we should gladly accept."

"Really?" said Gu Fan, with a rather doubtful expression.

At this point, Su Hui had returned. She put on her boxing gloves and her form-fitting sportswear outlined her impressive physique. She stepped onto the ring like someone issuing a challenge.

Below the ring, Lu Yi was totally captivated, he couldn't help but exclaim, "What a heroic and imposing woman, so..." Before Lu Yi could finish his words, the man in the ring had been floored, looking quite humiliated.

"Oh my God, that was too fast!" Both Gu Fan and Lu Yi looked confused, marveling at the stark difference between a professional and an amateur.

What came next could only be described as brutal. One after another, the male boxers of the gym reluctantly took to the ring, only to be taken down one by one, their postures thoroughly embarrassed.

While watching the seemingly soft figure in the ring, with its impressive power and impeccable combat skills, both Gu Fan and Lu Yi felt like she was the one in control; she could hit whoever she wanted.

"Okay, next in line!" Su Hui pointed at Gu Fan, who was stunned. She then added, "You're the only one left."

"Why am I the only one left, there are clearly so many left." When Gu Fan looked behind, he saw that everyone was on the ground, pretending to suffer, moaning and rolling around on the floor, including Lu Yi. They all didn't want to be Su Hui's human punching bag, all choosing to play dead.

"Seriously, why am I so naive?" Gu Fan was upset, wanting to back off, but he met Su Hui's piercing gaze. It seemed to him that if he dared to retreat, he was sure to meet his demise.

Left with no choice, Gu Fan, despite his trepidation, ascended the ring. He felt incredibly stiff knowing that his opponent was no ordinary fighter, but an exceptionally capable policewoman with an apparent grudge against men.

Recalling the moves of boxers he watched on television, Gu Fan assumed a false air of professionalism, moving his feet, raising his hands, and began to circle Su Hui, but refrained from striking.

"Don't be so nervous, I'll let you strike first," Su Hui confidently said, a confidence bred from having beaten ten burly men just moments ago.

"Really! If that's the case, then here goes nothing!" Gu Fan thought that since he was already in the ring, he might as well give it a shot, so he threw a punch.

Unexpectedly, Su Hui was quicker, her hands moving like lightning to catch Gu Fan's sloppy punch. She then leapt up, both legs off the ground, to wrap around Gu Fan's arm. She hung off his arm as if she was suspended in mid-air.

Next, Su Hui twisted her body and, with the weight of her body, she took Gu Fan by surprise, taking him down onto the canvas.

"What's your deal, didn't you say you'd let me hit you first? Why go back on your word like this?" Gu Fan felt aggrieved. He tried to get up but Su Hui had her legs pressed against his neck and chest, preventing him from rising. Furthermore, Su Hui still had one of Gu Fan's arms in her grip, with the ability to break it whenever she desired.

"All you men are liars, now it's your turn to get a taste of what it's like being deceived by a woman," Su Hui said while starting to apply pressure on Gu Fan's arm, causing him to yelp, "Have mercy, lady! Remember, you're a police officer, you can't harm the innocent!"

Su Hui retorted spitefully, "Such lackluster skills for a man, you can't even protect yourself. How will you protect a girlfriend in the future? I'm doing this for you, pushing you to improve, you'll thank me someday."

Midway through her sentence, Gu Fan was taken aback. Although he knew Su Hui was just talking nonsense, his heart was subtly fired up. That's right, if the disappearances were to happen again, a third or fourth person going missing, what should he do then? If he couldn't even protect himself, how would he protect Lin Xi?

Afterwards, Gu Fan often went to the boxing club with Su Hui to train, and honed an impressive skillset, laying the foundation for subsequent adventures.
