Driving at night is a monotonous and tedious affair; ahead lies endless darkness, and all you can see is whatever the headlights illuminate. Occasionally, you'll encounter another vehicle traveling by night, and a horn honked in greeting is sometimes enough to break the monotony of the journey.
Yan Fei got so bored he even thought about letting Heizi drive back alone. But then he remembered Heizi had just become a father, and if something happened to the guy, Yan Fei wouldn't be able to face going back alone. So, he had to sit in the car, trying to stay patient, and keep making conversation to keep Heizi from dozing off while driving.
But he couldn't stand it any longer: "Pull over, take a break—I'll drive for a bit!"
He really couldn't endure it any longer. Driving at night is naturally slow, but Heizi was being so cautious it was more like he was tiptoeing around a sleeping baby, afraid the slightest move might startle them awake.
