After comforting the young woman, Yan Fei stepped out and looked out from the stair landing. There he saw the man leisurely smoking a cigarette. But his conversation was far from leisurely; Yan Fei overheard him asking the elder who ran the local store, "Are you sure that woman is a student from a nearby university?"
"Absolutely. The young woman is amiable typically, she doesn't reside here at night, but instead rents a place here to cook and eat." The storekeeper, who spent his time inside every day within the small community, recognized the faces that came and went. He spoke with certainty, "Although, she did seem to take a break for some time, didn't see her for a few days, she only came back yesterday."
After a moment's thought, Yan Fei decided to stop listening and headed upstairs to inform the young woman, "Stay inside, I'll go down and ask him what his deal is!"
