Hearing the woman's plea to break down the door, the two policemen hesitated and said, "Isn't that a bit reckless? Vandalizing a citizen's property could lead to a complaint against us, and we could lose our jobs!"
Assuring and swearing that they wouldn't complain about any damages, the couple finally convinced the policemen to pry open the door.
And it wasn't the lock they pried open, but the door itself. The young policemen used their strength and a crowbar to create a large hole in the door.
When the policemen left, the couple, forgetting about moving their bed inside, looked at the damaged door in despair. They cursed the police for their recklessness and their son for remaining out all night.
They haphazardly blocked the door and didn't dare to sleep, getting dressed and sitting in the room in a daze. After such a strange incident, they were completely bewildered and sleep was out of the question.
