Experience had shown Heizi that the race between two legs and four, even if those four legs belonged to a cow, wasn't going to be easily won. Especially since he climbed out of the river still wet all over, clothes clinging to him, making it impossible to run fast.
After running for a while, he was puffing heavily and had to pause to catch his breath. When he looked up ahead, Heizi was so furious he almost exploded on the spot.
It turned out that the calf stopped when he stopped running. It mooed at him a few times, and leisurely started to graze on the roadside grass.
Oh, how furious Heizi was! He sprinted into a run again. The calf, while grazing, kept its eyes on him. Seeing him start to run, it immediately galloped away on its four legs.
After which, Heizi gleaned two truths. First, not only old horses know the way, cows do too; and secondly, he, a two-legged being, stood no chance of catching up with the four-legged one.
