Eyes met.
Flare's pale green eyes resembled a tranquil pool of water. Within their crystal-clear pupils, Pannis's reflection shimmered. Her all-seeing eyes seemed to pierce through his playful facade, glimpsing the hidden fatigue, pain, and hardship behind his mask. In that instant, Flare felt an unbearable pain in her heart, as if it were being gradually torn apart.
"They all told me that you were faring well, that you were happier than before when they saw you," Flare sighed softly, her feelings resonating with the wildflowers around her, their heads drooping in empathy. "Were they all lying to me, or did they simply not know you well enough? Can you truly consider this happiness?"
"Ha, indeed, I am happier than before," Pannis chuckled, "There is nothing more satisfying than realizing who I am and reliving past pains step by step."
