Chapter 3 - Song of Yarra_3

"Shut up, little Kera." The clear and ethereal voice flowed out from beside the goblin. Two people were sitting shoulder-to-shoulder, wearing identical white dresses and sporting identical light blue hair. Even their expressions were identical. Both had a pair of wide wings behind their backs, one black, one white.

"Exactly, exactly." Their voices were completely the same, unable to differentiate who is speaking. Their speech was fast, pouring out like a bubbling spring: "Again and again, every time this song is playing, you start grumbling non-stop."

"Exactly, exactly, little Kera. It's just a song, you're nitpicking, are you a kid?"

"Exactly, exactly, little Kera. You're almost fifty years old. Even though you're so old, you whimper like a child wanting candy. How shameful."

The goblin looked at the two chattering winged girls, and then shouted in a sharp voice after a moment of astonishment: "We goblins can live up to 200 years, I am only fifty, how am I old? No, I want to say, stop calling me 'little Kera,' my name is Christo. I know your pet bird used to be called 'little Kera.' And, wait, what was I saying? Oh, right! This is slander against us goblins, it's racial discrimination! It's a provocation against all goblins!"

"See, see, you're already fifty years old, and then you yell at us kids, how can you not be ashamed?"

"Yeah, yeah, you need to consult others on what you want to say. Aren't you a merchant? How are you going to trick people at the marketplace this way?"

"I, I, you are older than me, and I go to the market for trading, not cheating, and, oh, forget it." Christo was dispirited, covered his face with his hands, and spoke no more.

"Yay!" The two winged girls cheered victoriously, clapping and laughing softly.

"Maya, Tiya, stop teasing Christo." Being stopped from pursuing her victory further by the black-haired woman knight at Kyle's side were the two winged girls. The woman knight was not the beautiful type, but her strong bearing stood out. She had thick eyebrows and angular features, bringing a dignified style. Now, however, her face carried a doting smile as she held the winged girls back from attacking the goblin.

"Ugh! Sister Nellie is bullying us." With pouted lips and a near-crying face, the winged girls huddled together but obediently stopped their chatter.

Nellie shook her head and turned to smile at the elf, saying, "I'm sorry, Flare, can we continue?"

The beautiful woman elf glanced subtly at Kyle and Nellie's hand holding together with a hint of melancholy in her green pupils, yet her smile did not fade, replying to Nellie with a laugh: "It's always boring singing alone. Why don't you take a turn, sing the rest for me."

"No, no, no." The woman knight who has never backed down from the strongest enemy was instantly flustered and taken a step back, shaking her head, her face reddened, refusing: "You know I sing terribly, that's too cruel."

Just as the woman elf was about to say something teasingly, Kyle suddenly coughed: "I'll sing."

Without waiting for the elf's reply, he let go of Nellie's hand, and pulled out the great sword from his back, using his fingers to pluck a melody on the blade. After a few plucks, the melody began to take shape, nowhere near as sophisticated as the elf's, but it managed to pass.

"Bronze Age, started ten thousand years later, originated from the return of the gods."

"Faith lost in the First Epoch let the gods decide to kick start their era."

"Gods of life created the elves, who then came out of the forest."

"Gods of flame created the dwarves, born out of the mountains."

"Gods of water created the Sea Race, who roamed in the ocean."

"Gods of light created the Winged People who soared above the land, beyond the sky."

"Gods of earth created the Sand People, lurking in the gold sands of the earth."

"Lizardmen move in the swamplands, they symbolize the benevolence of the god of hunting."

"Running on the plains are the Beastmen, the favored by the god of war."

"The remainder of the gods collectively created humans, filling up the remaining voids on earth."

"God's incarnates and the children of god walked on earth, assisting the church to compete for faith."

"The shadow of the War of Faith, since the beginning of the Bronze Age, has roamed in this world."

"The war finally went off, countless gods fell, countless creatures died."

"Years of war covered the land with corpses."

"Scenes of the First Epoch reappeared, even the Guardians could not stop it from happening."

"The collision of divine powers completely broke Yarra's world."

"Desperate Guardians sacrificed half of their own lives."

"In exchange, the will of the Creator returned."

"The Creator rebuilt the world in sorrow."

"Isolated the gods outside the world."

"The chaos of the Third Epoch ended, Bronze Age..."

"They're here." The mage dressed in a black mage robe at the corner of the fire pit interrupted Kyle's singing, and a floating eyeball emerged in his hand, then disintegrated into the air.

As the phrase was heard, all people around the fire pit fell silent, their expressions turned serious. Kyle put away his great sword, held Nellie's hand again, and whispered, "They've finally arrived? Everything is about to start."
