The dark beetles kept devouring various insects and reproducing around the area, yet they seemed unable to grow in numbers like a snowball. Beetle fighting beetle was indeed a good method, no matter which side they were on.
Fortunately, my own dark beetles were still increasing in number. Without that, this battle might have been lost.
Off in the distance, the magic insect swarm, which initially didn't seem to notice the commotion, also detected the signal from their kin. These magic insects didn't particularly favor their own kind, so they kept a considerable distance from one another.
But upon receiving news of an attack from a foreign species, these magic insects still came flying over, ready to unite against the common enemy. If the magic insects could think, they'd have realized that this situation was akin to pouring oil on fire.
