There are several kinds of missions in the Derived World, but usually, there's always a main quest. This quest is quite simple, but the consequences of not completing it can be dire.
Then there are tasks posted by other people, these tasks have all kinds of rewards, or they might have none. It completely depends on what the task giver is willing to provide, and of course, it's okay if you don't complete them.
