Greedy Wolf signalled for Hugo to sit and talk, his tone tranquil and unhurried. Young ones always have a tendency to be hasty and impetuous.
"I don't understand why you, General, would admit defeat."
"Hehe, victory and defeat are perceived differently by everybody. Some may consider defeating their opponent a victory while to some, perseverance in itself is a victory. Whether it's handling the mecha, studying military tactics, the basic activities of eating, drinking, and sleeping or even just reading a story, all of these, in essence, lead to the same end. Take anything too serious and you've lost the game."
Hugo didn't quite understand Greedy Wolf's long lecture. Though he understood the literal meanings, the underlying depth eluded him. As a soldier, wasn't his focus meant to be on military tactics, elevating his mecha combat level, and physical upkeep? Hugo hardly read any novels. "I'm a simple man, General. I don't quite understand what you mean."
