At times, Feng Yi felt greatly helpless, although he helped some refugees, he was powerless to change the existing laws of this hopeless place. He didn't want to stay in this degenerate place for another second if he could help it, fearing that in a few years, he himself would be assimilated by this dark atmosphere.
After a satisfying meal, he quickly got up and left the tavern without a backward glance. Feng Yi lived in an unnoticeable corner of the refugee camp. The indoor environment, although not good, was not atrocious. He was usually out and too busy to tidy up, but even so, it wasn't ideal and would occasionally get the attention of his brothers.
Listening to the clanging noise coming from his room, he appeared somewhat helpless, "If you want to take something, be quick. If you're here to rob and harm me, sorry."
In a few days, he wouldn't even need a home, so let him take whatever he wanted. While speaking, Feng Yi had already laid on his bed, with his hands on his head and his eyes closed, restoring his energy. Indeed, under the current circumstances, there wasn't enough water even for basic living needs let alone personal hygiene. Right before bed, he didn't even plan to take off his clothes. Little did people know that several passenger ships would pass the 103rd Colonial Planet in a few days. Briefings like this could not escape the ears of those in the know, so Feng Yi was secretly vigilant, fearing any troubles that might arise, hence his caution.
The thief stopped in his tracks in response to his words, stunned. Who didn't know about Feng Yi's reputation? The local bosses in the vicinity didn't even dare to collect protection money from Feng Yi. It was precisely because they knew that a fleet would pass the 103rd Colonial Star that they finally decided to take a desperate risk and target him. Lying low for several days they gradually figured out Feng Yi's routine. No one would believe that Feng Yi had no money, but they were unlucky enough to get caught in the act.
"Feng... Sir... Feng..." The thief stammered, looking like he wanted to explain something but was at the point of tears.
"Alright alright, this lord will pardon you, go now." Feng Yi waved his hand, and the thief ran out of the room at a dog's pace as if he had received a great pardon.
He spent a dreamless night and carried on scrapping as usual the next day. The funds to travel from Dragon Gate Space Station to Alpha were barely enough. The problem was, he had to consider the living costs on board the ship. After much hesitation, Feng Yi decided to delay for one more day.
Until dawn on the third day, as the sky started to brighten, he woke up early and decided to board the flight to Alpha, it was always better to hurry at once than to delay.
The moment the door was pushed open, he saw four people standing expressionlessly outside the door– a middle-aged man and woman, and two girls, who were all staring blankly at him.
Even Feng Yi, who had seen life and death, was startled by this terrifying scene! Damn it, what the hell was this? Looking at the people who had come, he started to calm down. It's scary enough to frighten the dead, were the neighbors messing with him? Thinking about it, they didn't have much interaction before, the only time being when the four just arrived at the Third Colonial Star and got threatened by the mob. Feng Yi couldn't stand watching and stepped in to stop it.
As far as Feng Yi knew, this family of four came from Big Macs, an economically reliable federal planet. Until the National Defense War started, they had to leave their homeland. They intended to take a commercial speedboat to the Capital, but ended up on a pirate vessel, and like most people on the commercial speedboat, they were exiled to the 103rd Colonial Planet.
Fortunately, Big Macs is also one of the few planets with twice the gravity of Gundam. The family of four managed to struggle into the simulated gravitational field. However, their sudden visit today left Feng Yi somewhat confused, "Are you folks looking for me?"
The middle-aged uncle shouted: "Kneel down!"
Feng Yi was taken aback, his sharp eyes suddenly narrowing. Was he really supposed to believe that his reputation in the Seventh District was unfounded?
The next second, all four of them were kneeled down on the ground.
Feng Yi motioned to stop them, "I can't take this. Whatever you want to say, just say it."
The uncle said: "Sir Feng, in the next few days, a cruise ship will pass the Third Colonial Star. We guess you must also plan to leave here. If you can, please take us with you."
"You can board the ship on your own, there's no need to come looking for me," Feng Yi waved a hand dismissively.
"No, you know too well that it won't be smooth sailing all the way." The man pulled over his two visibly confused daughters. "Even if it's just for these kids, I beg you to take them with you."
The uncle gritted his teeth and pulled out a wad of cash from his bag, disregarding the cost, this money was all the savings from their frugal living over the past three years and from selling their valuable jewelry.
They had originally planned to leave the Colonial Planet together, but fate had other plans. With their current funds, they wouldn't even be able to cover their living expenses for the next few months. This forsaken planet, ignored by the federation, where only a few scarce resources remained, had been forgotten by humanity. Before reaching the actual space station, the federal citizens were not granted any humanity privileges on board smuggled civil warships. Moreover, this was the crime-ridden Colonial Planet 103.
Rather than this, it was better to give his hope to his children and wife. With this money, they hired Feng Yi as their protector.
Upon hearing the man's explanation, Feng Yi hadn't spoken yet and the two daughters were already crying. They pleaded for their father to come with them, saying they could scavenge for food, there has to be a way.
Feng Yi sighed softly! He immediately gave in, appearing helpless. "I accept," he said reluctantly, gesturing for everyone to get moving. The two young girls, probably about the same age as him, should be college students, right? It's all part and parcel, he accepted the money without any hesitation.
Feng Yi was making a big concession. Perhaps no one would risk their safety for this paltry sum of money. Some might even try to steal the money, killing him in the process. But this money gave him a good excuse.
"Thank you, Brother Feng..." The two sobbing girls bowed deeply to Feng Yi.
"No need, I'm just doing my job," Feng Yi quickly dismissed them, they had to get moving. They hurriedly gathered their belongings and set off, all of them giddy with the hustle and bustle of their journey...
The H5 coordinate was the only spaceport on Colonial Planet 103, 50 kilometers away from the refugee camp. With Feng Yi's speed, he would reach quickly, however, the reality was a bit difficult to predict.
During the long three years, the foursome never left the refugee camp in fear of encountering bandits. The passage of time washed off the arrogance of the young girls, the fortitude of the man. The only thing left was the reality of their struggle for survival. Walking through undulating barren land covered with brambles, everyone except Feng Yi showed signs of minor injuries.
With distant shouts echoing around them, Feng Yi suddenly dropped his luggage and started scanning the people around him, noticing in particular the flow of the wind...he didn't know these people. He was surrounded by a bunch of brutish men, lead by a man covered in scars who obviously didn't recognise Feng Yi, "Leave the money and women, then scram."
"Sorry, I've agreed to protect these people, so can we negotiate this." Feng Yi proposed.
"Fine."
The ladies paled at these words. The two younger girls were terrified and forgot to cry. They feared that Feng Yi would suddenly leave them behind. They had never seen such a scene before.
"Let's see if my dagger agrees with you. Die!" As he said this, he thrust his dagger forward.
"Such a big talker." Feng Yi's eyes narrowed then opened wide. Seeing the leader's ferocious attack, intending to put them in a life-or-death situation, he faced the wind and quickly moved in with a swift strike. In the blink of an eye, Feng Yi threw himself forward like a bullet. With a sharp kick, he left the leader and his men incapacitated.
