As Xiao Chen and his companion made their way through the mountain cave, they found that despite the ink-black mouth of the cave from the outside, it wasn't dark inside. Flecks of faint light shimmered within the cave.
The cave entrance was extremely narrow, barely wide enough for one person to pass. The inside of the cave was winding and serpentine. After they had walked dozens of steps and turned a corner, the cave suddenly opened up to reveal a small valley before their eyes.
In this small valley, the sun and moon had long disappeared. The sky above was draped with a blood-red heavenly curtain, isolating the valley from the world. A few dilapidated stone houses littered the valley, surrounded by piles of thick white bones.
The surrounding cliffs were covered in dried blood, and the ground underfoot was layered with bloody traces. A pervasive stench of blood hung heavy in the air, the ground had long been dyed a dark red from countless amounts of fresh blood.
