Luo'er checked the ammunition again, it was half-powered, with only half the charge of ordinary bullets, but still very dangerous. For the test, they were all required to wear thick bulletproof vests and Kefla Helmets.
Due to the ill-fitting bulletproof vests, it was quite awkward for Tangmo and Baiyue. As soon as they entered the field, Tangmo began adjusting her vest. Hu Daoke helped her adjust it and looked at Luo'er, suggesting, "Sister Moumou, why don't we let Luo'er command the test this time?"
"Eh?" Luo'er was stunned and didn't know what to say.
"Sure thing," Tangmo said, adjusting her bulletproof vest without a care, "After all, I don't know how to command anyway."
"I should do it?" Luo'er pointed at himself.
"Yes, of course."
"That doesn't seem right..." Luo'er meant that as a team member, it felt strange to command.
"There's no rule that the captain has to be the one in command. Plus, out of all these people, you seem the most reliable." although Hu Daoke looked a tad bit simple, he spoke the truth.
"Should I do it?" Luo'er turned to look at Baiyue and Cheng Ziang. Baiyue just looked at him without saying a word. Luo'er knew she agreed. But Cheng Ziang just sneered and didn't say anything, leaving Luo'er to wonder what he meant.
"Alright then," Luo'er lowered his head, pondering for a moment, before giving his first order, "Everyone, load your bullets and check the status of your weapons again."
With his order, the sounds of loading bullets echoed. He looked around to confirm everything was right and continued, "We need to cross this street with alternating cover. I, Sister Moumou, and Hu Daoke will go first; Baiyue and Cheng Ziang will provide cover. Got it?"
Everyone nodded. Luo'er waved his hand and took the lead with Tangmo and Hu Daoke. The three of them crouched and jogged to the sandbags in the middle of the street. Luo'er stood up and aimed his gun while a human-shaped target suddenly popped up less than three meters ahead. Before Luo'er could shoot, a gunshot rang out behind him. He heard the sound of a bullet whizzing over his head, followed by the crisp sound of metal collision. The human-shaped target fell down as if hit.
Luo'er instinctively ducked his head and turned back. The sound of the bullet just now made his scalp prickle, and broke him into a cold sweat. He turned back to look at the two providing cover, Baiyue had her sniper rifle braced on a car made of plywood, the muzzle pointed in their direction. Undoubtedly, she had fired the shot.
Although startled, Luo'er wasn't sure what to say. He shook his head and shouted at Tangmo and Hu Daoke, "Stand up and cover them!"
With Luo'er's order, the three of them stood up and aimed forward. Luo'er gestured for them to gather up and then released a rapid burst of fire, knocking down two human-shaped targets that had popped up.
"Pupupu..." The machine gun next to him started firing intensively. It took Tangmo more than twenty shots to knock down a human-shaped target. Luo'er couldn't help but tell her, "Sister Moumou, burst fire, burst fire!"
"Oh!" Tangmo nodded and hastily switched to semi-automatic mode.
Just as Luo'er was about to breathe a sigh of relief, he heard Hu Daoke's 95 squad machine gun firing intensively. Hu Daoke had his machine gun directed at the human-shaped target in front, liberally spraying bullets. Unlike the sub-machine gun, the machine gun sounded like bursting firecrackers, deafening. He quickly held down the handle of the machine gun and shouted, "What are you doing?"
"Suppression!" Hu Daoke looked at him puzzled.
"Suppression..." Luo'er followed the direction of the muzzle, looking at the two human-shaped targets that were knocked down no more than ten meters away, he was speechless. It was just two targets, a burst of fire would have been enough to knock them down, yet Hu Daoke gave them more than forty additional rounds.
He looked up at the instructor who was in charge of recording from a high place on both sides of the street, and felt a sense of despair for no particular reason.
After the reckless operation of his team, they finally reached the doorway of the building at the end of the street. Although they had used more than half of their ammunition, they were relieved that none of them was "killed."
The five of them leaned against the walls on both sides of the door, the test this time was about breaching tactics. It was a test of team coordination and response ability. Ironically, even though it was supposed to be a surprise attack, the earlier firefight had already left the wooden wall riddled with holes. If there were any hostages in the room, they would have been as good as dead by now.
After checking everyone's weapons, Luo'er said, "Listen up, Hu Daoke will break the door, Sister Moumou and I will go in, the rest provide cover, understand?"
"Got it!" Tangmo and Hu Daoke nodded.
"Let's start!"
Luo'er gestured, and he and Tangmo, guns in hand, moved next to the door. Hu Daoke retreated a bit, then, with a roar, he slammed open the door. But because he used too much force, he rolled into the room as well.
"Damn!" Luo'er couldn't help but curse. He discarded the prepared flashbang, held his rifle, stepped over Hu Daoke's body and rushed into the room.
As he entered, two human-shaped targets suddenly popped up. Luo'er raised his gun, but before he could fire, he heard Tangmo rushing in. He instinctively turned to look at her, realizing that the doorway was too narrow and he was blocking it. As Tangmo rushed in, her sub-machine gun was aimed directly at him.
"Stop!" Luo'er's scalp tingled instantly, but he kept his cool. He immediately dropped his rifle and pushed away the muzzle of Tangmo's gun with his right hand. Then he pulled out his pistol from his right leg pocket with his left hand and aimed it at the human-shaped targets.
After a burst of frantic gunshots, Tangmo's gun knocked down the human-shaped target on the right and Luo'er shot down the target on the left. He felt a wave of relief and was grateful for his quick reaction, as well as his decision to load the pistol in his holster. Otherwise, after this round of action, he could have lost his life in addition to his score.
"What on earth were you doing?" Luo'er naturally lost his temper with Tangmo after the close call.
"I'm... I'm sorry..." Tangmo, knowing her mistake was grave, lowered her head and apologized in fear.
"Is sorry useful? I could have died just now!" Luo'er shouted, and then he left the room, stepping out on the street to catch his breath. The entire ordeal had him sweating with fear, and he still couldn't stop shivering.
"Hey, are you guys alright?" Wang Xu rushed, picked up the megaphone, and asked loudly from the top of the street. Clearly, he had seen the dangerous scene through the monitor.
Luo'er took a breath and waved his hand at him, signaling that he was alright.
"Do you want to continue?" Wang Xu asked.
Luo'er nodded, and Wang Xu, silent, gestured for the test to continue. Luo'er calmed his racing heart and walked over to Tangmo. She was still hanging her head with guilt, looking utterly at a loss, like a child who had done something wrong.
Luo'er reached out to turn off the safety on Tangmo's gun and said to her, "You provide cover, Cheng Ziang, you and I will breach!"
Cheng Ziang looked at the two with a tight face, but didn't refuse and came to Luo'er's side with his gun. Luo'er picked up his rifle, checked it again and said to Hu Daoke, "Be gentle when breaking the door!"
"Oh!" Perhaps it was because of Tangmo's big mistake just now that Hu Daoke was much more obedient.
"Let's continue!" Luo'er sighed.
