He had just unlatched the safety of his rifle, ready to turn around. However, he found the hulking figure of a man had come to stand beside him. He looked up at the figure and, reassured, flipped the safety back on.
He hadn't a clue as to what Hu Daoke was up to, stealthily appearing behind him, giving him quite a fright.
"What are you doing up so late? Is it your shift tonight?" Luo'er asked.
"No, I can't sleep," Hu Daoke sat down beside him and spoke softly, "I just have some things I need to get off my chest. It's suffocating to keep it all in."
"Were you scared out of your sleep because of today's events?" Luo'er asked him curiously.
"Sort of, but it's not entirely that." Hu Daoke paused before he spoke more slowly, "I must thank you for today's incident. Had it not been for you, Sister Moumou and me might have…"
"Just be more cautious next time. Stop acting so impulsively, you gave me quite a scare," Luo'er cut him off, still feeling traces of fear.
