Huoyang Emperor said, "Jianwu, is it not good for me to keep watch over Emperor Bahuang and the others with you? You can delegate the task of tallying casualties and setting compensation standards to your subordinates."
Emperor Jianwu replied, "Tallying the casualties is simple enough to leave to subordinates, there's nothing wrong with that, but establishing compensation standards without any of us princes appearing in person? Would that not dispirit our men? You should go and comfort everyone, especially those who have been injured. They need you, a prince, to appease them personally, with gentle words."
