When Nanxi was fifteen, she dreamt of a man. To be exact, she dreamt of a man's back.
His silhouette was tall and handsome, and above all, reassuringly warm.
Compelled by curiosity, Nanxi approached this man, and asked, "What are you doing?"
The man lifted his hands. They were beautiful, so beautiful that Nanxi thought she had never seen hands like these before. He extended his hand toward her and said in a soft voice, "I'm here to take you with me."
Nanxi hesitated before asking,"Where will you take me?"
The man replied, "Anywhere you want."
Nanxi blinked. She longed to visit Denmark, the land of fairy tales and dreams, and the homeland her mother often spoke of, the mainland, which her mother affectionately referred to as home.
"But, I don't know you," she said.
The man smiled, a soothing sound. "That's okay," he assured her, "As long as I know you."
"Even so, I can't go with you. My parents wouldn't allow it…"
After some thought, she added, "They might look for me!"
