Such a jarring fall woke her up completely.
Yu Jingrong took a moment to mentally check her body. Other than the unbearable pain in her ankle, everything else seemed fine.
Her cry of alarm halted Hong Huina and Chu Jiu, who were ahead of her.
They turned around just in time to see Yu Jingrong fall. Initially, Hong Huina was quite reluctant to return, but Chu Jiu, as their team leader, could not possibly ignore a teammate in distress.
So, they both headed back.
Chu Jiu asked with concern, "What happened, Jingrong?"
After the throbbing pain subsided momentarily, Yu Jingrong took a deep breath and said, "I accidentally twisted my ankle, it feels like bone might be involved. I don't think I can continue climbing. Could you let my teacher know? I'm going to head down the mountain first."
With that, she struggled to stand up. Unfortunately, as soon as her left foot touched the ground, a wave of excruciating pain erupted from her ankle!
Her leg faltered, and she toppled forward.
