Feeling as if she'd been slapped in the face, Yu Jingrong glared at him viciously.
Her lips moved wordlessly for a moment before finally forcing out two words, "Pull over!"
Li Chengyun leaned lazily against his seat and gently pressed the communication device on the seat, "Aguai, stop the car!"
"Screech—" The shrill friction sound echoed instantly in the well-sealed car as Aguai hit the brakes, turned off the engine, and pulled over by the roadside.
Yu Jingrong swiftly opened the door and got out of the car without hesitation.
Li Chengyun stared coldly at her retreating figure, his thin lips tightly pressed into a grim line, his fists clenched so hard that his veins bulged and his knuckles turned white.
As soon as the car door shut, he ordered Aguai to speed away.
Yu Jingrong's face was expressionless, her gaze fixed on the direction the car was leaving, motionless, radiating an atmosphere of utter silence.
A moment later, she dug her cell phone out of her bag and dialed Shen Anlingzi's number, "Woman, where are you?"
The person at the other end of the phone seemed to have been asleep, her soft voice sounding somewhat sluggish, "At your house, sleeping."
"I'm on the Western City road, in front of *** Company, can you come pick me up? I can't get a taxi here." Yu Jingrong frowned slightly, looking around at her surroundings, subconsciously hugging her arms around herself.
"What? What on earth are you doing up so late at night?" Shen Anlingzi instantly woke up, her voice clearly alarmed, "Fine, I know where you are, wait right there!"
After hanging up, Yu Jingrong, completely disregarding her appearance, sat down on the edge of the roadside flower bed, her whole being looking incredibly pitiful.
This was the state Shen Anlingzi found Yu Jingrong in when she arrived: reeking of alcohol, her eyes full of complex emotions, her expression hard to decipher.
She was greatly worried, "Jingrong, what happened to you?"
Seeing her, Yu Jingrong was momentarily dazed, then broke into a bright smile, "I'm alright. Thank you for coming to pick me up."
Shen Anlingzi wasn't convinced, "You call me out in the middle of the night to pick you up and you claim you're alright? If I weren't in A City, how would you have gotten home tonight? You can't get a taxi here, who would come get you?"
All these years, Shen Anlingzi knew all about Yu Jingrong's life and understood that apart from her and Su Luo, Yu Jingrong didn't have any other friends.
Confronted with Shen Anlingzi's harsh words, Yu Jingrong grabbed her hand, "Tonight was an exception."
"Who knows if it's an exception, or if this happens often, Jingrong? It's been three years, the past is the past," she firmly held onto Yu Jingrong's hand, "Why can't you understand? Everyone else is moving forward, but you're the only one stuck in the same place!"
Yu Jingrong looked at her, her silent face revealing no emotion, "Book flight tickets."
"What?"
"Go home!!"
It had been three years; she had been too afraid to go home because of a man, even believing that this man would not let her go in his heart.
