Xia Yiwan had already dozed off beside Si Mo's bed when a sharp alarm rang out in the laboratory.
Xia Yiwan jolted awake, only to find, to her horror, that Si Mo's heart rate had suddenly dropped from a normal rate of over seventy beats per minute to just over forty, and it was decreasing rapidly.
"Bai Bing! Bai Man!" Xia Yiwan screamed, and Bai Bing and Bai Man rushed in.
Then, Xia Yiwan watched helplessly as Bai Bing used a defibrillator again and again on Si Mo's swelling and ulcerating chest.
Except, Si Mo's heart rate showed no signs of returning to normal.
"Si Mo, I beg you, please hold on a little longer. I still have some good news to tell you."
Xia Yiwan quickly took off her helmet, cradled Si Mo's head in her hands, and sobbed into his ear: "We're going to have a baby; you're going to be a father; please don't leave us."
"Please, our baby never had the chance to call you 'Daddy...', how could you leave us..."
