Perhaps noticing the smile on Amanda Smith's face, Grace Murdock became a bit fidgety and averted her gaze as if feeling a little embarrassed. She grabbed her juice and took a big gulp, only to drink too fast and choke on it, resulting in a quiet cough.
Her reaction was very down-to-earth, nothing like the Ice Queen she had appeared to be when they first met.
"What's wrong?" Tim Morrison heard her cough and, feeling a bit sympathetic, rubbed her back gently, "Drink slowly, don't rush."
"I'm fine," Grace used a paper towel to wipe her lips, then lifted her eyes to glance at Amanda again. This woman had a gentle air and a sweet smile, which was nothing like the cruel, heartless "Amanda Smith" that Tim had described to her. It was this very contrast that had caught her off guard upon meeting Amanda, leading to an embarrassing faux pas.
At that thought, she looked up and glared at Tim—serves you right for talking nonsense!
