The two enjoyed the evening breeze in the courtyard until around eight or nine o'clock, and after feeding each other a plate of lychees, they held hands and went back to their room.
Their obviously improved relationship had even startled the household servants; it had only been a year since they last met, so what had happened to thaw the ice between this couple?
But seeing their harmonious affection, the servants were also happy. They had been through the years when Samuel Johnson desperately searched for Amanda Smith, and now they couldn't help but silently bless the young master they'd seen grow up, who was finally seeing his wishes fulfilled.
When Amanda reached the second floor, she saw that Samuel wanted to follow her and couldn't help stopping, pointing to the third floor: "Samuel, your room is upstairs."
Samuel glanced at her and asked, "Now that we're together, why should we sleep separately?"
Amanda choked, "But I'm not used to sleeping with someone else."
