Mrs. Johnson sat on the sofa watching TV, and when she heard the old butler say that Samuel Johnson and Amanda Smith had returned, she didn't move an inch. She was still holding a grudge about being "asked" to leave when she visited Samuel's company at noon today.
She sat on the sofa, sipping tea, but couldn't help sneaking a peek at Samuel. She had thought the boy would feel somewhat guilty toward her, but to her surprise, he walked upstairs with Amanda, laughing and talking, hand in hand, without even throwing a glance her way.
Mrs. Johnson choked on her drink in anger, and the servants by her side hurried over to pat her back, asking persistently, "Madam, are you alright?"
Mrs. Johnson placed her teacup heavily on the coffee table, her eyebrows knitted with irritation.
