Samuel Johnson glared at her fiercely, his eyes reddening a bit. He was truly heartbroken—because he cared for her, he felt sorrowful over her rejection. He couldn't understand why they couldn't be together when they clearly loved each other.
"Over and over you claim to be thinking of my best interest," he asked menacingly, "then why won't you be with me?"
Amanda Smith was somewhat at a loss, staring at him for a long while, helplessly saying, "Samuel, please don't do this…"
Samuel Johnson brooded, thinking that it was she who should not be doing this. Why couldn't she speak openly, instead of keeping secrets from him?
Feeling indescribably frustrated and uncomfortable, he stood beside Amanda Smith and said coldly, "If you don't give me a satisfactory answer today, don't expect to shake me off!"
Such willful words came naturally to him.
