Perhaps it was because Samuel Johnson had been in business for many years, but he seemed more adept at understanding human nature than the doctors of psychology. After a few tentative questions ended in failure, the doctor finally sighed in resignation, "I think you need to relax. I am your doctor; you don't need to be so defensive around me."
Samuel Johnson smiled, "I feel quite relaxed."
"Your demeanor may be relaxed, but your psychological defenses are always up. Since you're willing to come for treatment, naturally, you're also willing to talk, right? There's no need for us to be so guarded with one another."
Samuel wanted to say something else, but Annie behind him chimed in, "Samuel, you want to get better, right? Let's listen to the doctor."
Samuel began to feel a bit impatient with her assertiveness.
However, out of respect for his position as her fiancé, he still agreed to the doctor's suggestion.
