Samuel Johnson did not leave the ward, he sat back down on the recliner he had moved in.
The warm sunlight shone into the room, which was very quiet. He stared at Amanda Smith's back, feeling drowsy and about to fall asleep.
Just as he was about to doze off, the phone in his pocket suddenly rang. He was startled awake, he fumbled for the phone in his pocket and saw that it was a call from his mother.
He glanced at Amanda Smith with his hand over the phone. She hadn't moved at all, as if she hadn't heard the ringtone.
Samuel felt somewhat deflated, he took the phone and stepped outside the room, leaning against the wall to answer the call, lazily uttering a "Hello?".
Mrs. Johnson's voice was a bit unsettled from the phone, "Samuel, where are you now? Why did your secretary say you didn't go to work?"
"At the hospital."
