"Isn't that the truth," Jane agreed as she soothed Mrs. Johnson's back. "As soon as she got back, she had a quarrel with you. You were only being kind, but Miss Amanda not only showed no appreciation, she even used Master Johnson to pressure you! Relying on her favored status, she doesn't even regard you with respect anymore!"
"Jane!" Mrs. Johnson's tone grew a bit sharper, "Stop talking."
"Madam, I came with you from your parental home. I simply can't stand by and watch others bully you!" Jane continued, "It was Amanda who behaved shamelessly, and yet you were being considerate. Her actions are simply too much!"
With her exaggerated words, she directly painted Amanda as a villain who, relying on Mr. Johnson's affection, bullied Mrs. Johnson.
Samuel's face still bore a faint smile. After a long time, he no longer took such maidservant conspiracies to heart as he did when he was younger.
Had Jane said this in the past, he would have definitely confronted Amanda.
