Amanda Smith stood opposite him, her crystal-clear eyes serenely watching him. She seemed incredibly calm, as if she had already anticipated his reaction.
Suddenly, Samuel Johnson sneered coldly.
"Impressive," he said as he sat down, legs crossed, leaning back on the sofa. "Amanda Smith, you really are impressive."
Amanda Smith glanced at him and slightly lifted her chin toward the bewildered maid standing in front of her, "Aren't you going to call Grandfather over?"
"Yes, yes..." Shaken by the confrontation between the two, the maid had already lost her nerve. She hadn't expected the usually mild-mannered Amanda Smith to hold her own against Samuel Johnson so effectively. Casting a hurried glance at Mr. Johnson, who sat on the sofa with an unsightly expression, she quickly left the room.
