Samuel Johnson left Evan Willow's villa with a distracted soul, driving in the direction of his home. He needed to find someone, but he had no idea how to start looking...
He aimlessly parked the car in the courtyard, where a crowd had already gathered at the door. Everyone looked at him expectantly, as if hoping he would bring Amanda Smith out with him.
Mrs. Johnson fought her way out of the crowd, and came over to ask anxiously, "Samuel, what's the matter? Where is Amanda?"
Samuel Johnson shook his head, his expression blank and weary. The question she asked was the very one he wanted to know the answer to.
"How could this be..."
Mrs. Johnson said in astonishment.
Samuel Johnson looked up at the servants at the door, cleared his throat, and asked, "Last night, who was the last person to see Amanda?"
"It was me."
