Three heads bumped into each other, but none of the three retreated. Daji paused first, allowing the two smaller heads to peek inside, taking up all the space in the process.
Manbao blinked, allowing her eyes to adjust to the darkness before she saw a bundle resting at the bottom. She and Bai Shan exclaimed simultaneously, "There's something down there."
The two small heads collided again, this time a bit more forcefully. Both had to back out and, after exchanging glances, Manbao was the first to act, rolling up her sleeves and reaching in, only to find she couldn't quite grasp it.
She silently backed out and looked to Bai Shan.
Bai Shan laughed and volunteered to try, but Daji stopped him, saying, "Let me do it. The young master and Miss Man are about the same height."
Bai Shan: ...
Finally, they made room for Daji.
Daji looked inside and easily lifted the object.
